My objection to Gibson I'm not sure he'll be on the market and I think the trade cost will be considerably more than Varlamov.
He's been on the market for like a year. And he solves a problem position for a bit, it's worth paying up for.

I wonder if Sakic would have any interest in Ethan Bear.

Bear's generally had good underlying numbers in his career but didn't play much in Carolina this year. He played a lot in Edmonton before getting the boot after a tough post-season.

I'm not trying to connect any trade dots (i.e. Bear/Girard/Necas). Bear should be affordable (both trade value and contract value), and Colorado loves to scoop up struggling young RFA's.

That "they have so many players to re-sign" line makes it sound like this is someone from Anaheim feeding Lebrun info.

Naz and Burky are mostly likely not being re-signed. Nuke is the only big money deal, and Nate's deal wouldn't kick in until 2023-24. If they want to re-sign Manson they can do it.

Coincidentally Lebrun was also told Anaheim wants to talk to him when he hits UFA. Obviously they're worried he may start to enjoy winning hockey games and potential championships and choose to stay.

There’s questions about his maturity and his work habits… nope don’t want him

For goalies... options in order:

1. Gibson with 50% retention
2. Gibson with 45% retention
3. Gibson with 40% retention
.
.
18. MAF for a year
19. MAF for 2 years
20. Campbell
21. Samsonov/Vaneck
22. Husso
23. Shooter Tutor
24. F it, go empty net
25. Kuemper for league minimum
26. @S E P H
27. Kuemper for market rate
28. Comrie
Well what are the ones in between?! We need those ones!

(After the Gibson retention percentages.)

Fleury on a super cheap contract would be pretty great honestly(I think he's going to be cheap as I think he wants to play for a Contender). That might be my preferred direction.

For example Fleury at $2M for 1 year, that would mean an extra ~3.5M in cap space this summer to spend on the 2nd line, compared to what we were all expecting before the playoffs started(Where re-signing Kuemper at ~5.5M seemed the obvious direction).

And our goaltending would certainly be no worse then what we are getting right now in these playoffs with Kuemper.

I wouldn't be opposed to it as a backup option if their #1 target falls through. Flower was bad this year, but you can't underestimate what motivation can do for a guy that craves a last chance at a Cup on a true Cup contender.
