Blake already said they want to make the playoffs as their goal...Blake already came out and agreed with both Doughty and Kopitars statements on improving the team this season.

Improvements and playoffs aren’t the same thing. Some people said the Kings improved last season because of how long they were talking playoffs. It took Coach Todd stating the obvious to officially quash those hopes.

I think Blake would be consider next season a success if the Kings were at least an 82 point team. That’s the true bar we’re working with here. Everything else he said is face saving. He never came out and explicitly said the playoffs were his top goal for the team. And he won’t. It will be “the Stanley cup is every teams goal” lip service.

Could we tie it to Wagner with a 10 foot rope? I bet it would be surprisingly effective just flailing all over the place.

Leafs continue to shop Kerfoot who has 2 years left at $3.5 million per. Pretty good player who can slot into a top 9 role.

Arguably the best Leaf forward along with Nylander during their series versus the Habs. He stepped up in the absence of Tavares.

Yikes. That wouldn't even be as good as the shitty last season of Sutter. Only a five win improvement over this past season's pace or more like ten OT/SO losses.

Crazy to imagine everyone being totally cool with T-Mac getting to collect this paycheck for three seasons with the best result being 82 points.

How many coaches has this core group burned through? After some time we all should understand it's not the leadership being provided by the coach that's the problem.

I am not a big fan of McLellan, but I am not down with giving these guys another coach unless someone can show me how McLellan is screwing up the development of the kids.

What do you mean?

The Coyotes have made nothing known about trading Chychrun, TB isn't trading Sergachev, no matter how much we want them to, and maybe it's worth speculating on Werenski. They just gave Laine a bunch of money though, so maybe they're not going nuclear yet.

What if the guy who replaced Tod was Blake himself? Should he go full Bob Murray and get a first hand grip on the guys he paying?

Blake agreed with both Doughty and Kopitar on need to improve the team this season.
He did not add details about how he is going to do it.
I do not believe that trading young talent for old veterans on Doughty and Kopitar request will be correct way to new championships.
I got an idea that Blake vision how to improve the team has slightly different approach comparing to Doughty and Kopitar vision.
If Doughty and Kopitar do not like Kings direction they can always ask for trades.
I am sure contending teams will be really interested in trade for them.

Exactly, so unless you are really willing to overpay to acquire one of these guys, if even available, I stand pat.

If I was a hockey player I wouldn't sign in LA either. Stupidly expensive even if I was rich. And LA is a shit hole IMO. Florida you get the luxuries of LA and affordability.

It makes sense, but why even bigger shit hole NY city is still attractive destination for free agents?

Or, pretend all day long, just don't get upset at or blame the Kings for not getting them. Like when you get blamed for something you did in a dream.

There's simply no reason to think TB won't do next to anything else before trading Sergachev for cap relief.

Great Gerry West was calling state of team, which always plays in playoffs and never is championship contender mediocracy trap.
I believe Blake is building real contender.

My checklist for tomorrow in order by preference…

1.Landeskog(not happening)

2. #2 defenseman via trade(Werenski,Sergachev) also not happening…

3.Saad(most likely move)

4.If Saad doesn’t happen either sign Coleman or trade for Bertuzzi

Don’t see why we can’t at least attempt to sign Landeskog to a 7 year 8-8.5mil deal…

Browns 5.8 mil cap hit off the books next summer.( could resign for cheaper)

Quicks 5.8 mil cap hit off the books the summer of 2023.

Kopitars 10 mil cap hit off the books summer of 2024…

Because LA and New York are not actually “shitholes”. Especially where the millionaires live. There isn’t a single person posting here saying “LA sucks” that wouldn’t wet their pants with glee if they woke up tomorrow the owner of Kopitar or Doughty’s Manhattan Beach house. Not one.

Because that 7-year term is ridiculous.
