Seems like there's a bit of a hurry for players to be pushed up to play with older ones. Maybe it's a simple thing like playing time? If the U20 team's management think he's better off getting guaranteed top minutes and production instead of playing lesser minutes with them? Or are people thinking that his current ability would instantly make him a top player at the U20 level and close to ready for Liiga games? There's still time left, I'm sure he'll get promoted for a few games and then he can show what he can do. Hopefully no one dismisses his (or anyone's) talent and potential just because the players aren't always playing where a fan thinks they should be playing. I really dislike that type of thinking. Also seems like the U20 team is struggling so maybe they're not comfortable bringing up more underagers?
This is what I think. I don’t think he’s that far off where Slafkovsky was at the same point in Finland, and although Slafkovsky was picked 1OA he was looked at more as a top 5-15 level talent at this point relative to the eventual draft date and eventually rose as the year went on. Slafkovsky was basically as you reference at this point four years ago, a very good U20 player and right on the verge of Liiga games.

If Katolicky really is to be selected in the top 10, he’ll need to be playing Liiga games next season I’d think, and more than just a few games here or there.
