The guy who had 61 points in 82 games at his age...yeah, no.

Nice try though.

Isn't stutzles current season better than both Nylander AND Matthews at the same age?

Get out of here with your bad take.

It’s Matthews, all day, every day. Timmy is great, but anyone saying Timmy = or > than Matthews is just being a homer.
Time to close this thread.

You have no argument, none , zero, nothing valid but a hometown prediction and wishful thinking....ill base mine a stone cold.facts, stats and toss in a little.common sense....sometimes you can't counter argument DUMB, yes it's that dumb...iam right, matthews proved that last year , mcdavid proving it this year and there is a line up to prove it next year 😉...novices lol...nothing like a good old schooling
Yah you've proven this over and over haven't you, though it's not dumb from my side, as I'm providing you a counter argument, something you don't seem to posses.

I'm done going in circles with someone who doesn't understand a counter-argument, here's a hint, using the same argument over and over, doesn't count. It also makes you look unformed and just plain silly.

Have a nice day bud.

And in their 3rd seasons in the league Mathews and Nylander were getting ready for another crack at the play offs…….where as Stuzle?

It ok putting up points but is pointless (do you see what I did there) if it doesn’t make the team better as a whole.

It is a clear strategy from some teams to distract their fans.

‘Why isn’t the team better?’

‘Quick look over there at that shiny new player scoring all those points’

It's a team game and we're talking about individual. Can you address what I said about the individuals without talking about team strength or are you just going to let me win the argument by default by not addressing it?

Boring win. At least give me a challenge.

This is the biggest reason most are voting no here, but hey leafs fans continue to play the victim, while ignoring development and salary cap.....
It’s the reason I chose Stutzle over Matthews too. On my first post here I mentioned Stutzle being 3.2m cheaper (and probably 4.2m cheaper starting in 2 years).

4.2m is the difference between a decent bottom 6 and well rounded bottom 6. I still think Matthews is the better player right now, but certainly not 3.2m better. That money can make the difference between a first round exit on game 7 and a Stanley cup win.

God this thread is going to be a HF HOF thread you can feel it. How many times do people need to be proven wrong comparing lesser players to Matthews before they stop? This one will look as laughable as any other. There was a time Aho > Matthews on here.

Good thing we are comparing players trade value and not players themselves.

Sooooo what your saying is TS has outproduced both players on a far inferior team, I feel like that adds to his value.........

To be fair I’m not sure what I’m saying.
I think comparing individuals in a team game is a silly thing to do, as there are so many variables to take into account that an honest comparison is nearly impossible.

Taking your example, you could argue that AM and WN played on a team arguably worse that Ottawa (especially the first year) and were able to elevate those around them to make the playoffs, which TS and Ottawa other lauded players haven’t.

What did you win? A medal? A trophy? A big cuddle and a pat on the head?

If you can’t see the futility of comparing individuals without context but looking purely at points totals then I’ll have to take your prize for winning off you.

No one was saying Stutzle was better than Matthews. It was a question of would you trade TS for AM keeping into account contract status and age.

Since you are talking playoffs, I’m willing to bet my house that Stutzle will have more playoff series wins by the end of his 6th season than Matthews had.

To be fair Stutzle is making almost 11M less this year.

I wouldn't argue that, the leafs the year after they drafted Matthews were a better team that the Sens this year, multiple players had career years, better all around team too.

TS is one of few young and up and coming sens players, and to be honest what more can he do? He is on pace for 91 points at 21, which is more than anyone not names McDavid at the same age.

I agree an honest comparison is hard, AM is the better player, without a doubt anyone arguing against that is batshit crazy, but with one year left and a massive payday coming comparing contracts is completely valid and in that aspect TS come out on top in a cap world. That is the only point most are making here.

That’s a bold bet, 3 years down already and the Atlantic looking tasty for the next 3 years.

I suppose he might be traded to a contender if Ottawa misses next year.
