I'm sure it's because I suck at googling, but I can't find any highlights of the games... Someone can help me?
In a shocking development that surprises no one:
You are very generous. To be honest, I don't think the best team won. Should be a great final and it wouldn't surprise me in the least if you guys won this time.Good game, Canada. Well deserved. Excellent performance by your goalie and nice shot blocking. Hope to see you again in the gold medal game.
It is known who is tested positive and how many players ?
"Historic" run? Japan is presently ranked #6 in the IIHF World Ranking. And given the tournament format, with seeds #1-5 being in Group A and seeds #6-10 being in Group B, Japan's "historic" achievement is... beating teams that are all below them in ranking, teams they have been beating regularly?I haven't been active on this site much, but seeing Japan making this historic run is enough to drag me out of my hibernation.
Agree with everything but the only Czech goals were flukey. They shut it down! A magical knucklepuck and a reviewable play IMO on our other goal. They were definitely gassed and I've never seen a team purposely freeze pucks in 3 on 3. However, that was on the Czechs to counter that and they missed a lot of glorious chances.
I do think, now that I've really looked into the women's game that they need 2 pools. The strong pool still has blowouts and 3 to 9 seem pretty even. Happy for Japan. It wasn't lost on me that the greatest Czech victory was in Japan and now they took us out. Good for the sport. I think they'll have a close game with one of the 3. Czechs are going to get bombed right out the tourney. Shame as I liked their team, coach and everything to be honest. It's not like the men's team which is already giving me a headache and they haven't played a game yet.haha

For what its worth, women's hockey really only has a "Big Two", so drawing Finland for the quarters definitely gives them better odds for advancing than drawing Canada or USA (which are what the other two "lucky" advancers from Group B get when not eliminated outright - yeah, it's a questionable format), but, like I said, so far they haven't really done anything they haven't done a quite few times over these past few years. And I absolutely wouldn't treat it as a major sensation if they managed to beat Finland, too; it's definitely a lesser ask than beating Canada/USA, and anything can happen especially in single-game elimination.
I'm dealing just fine with the fact that Japan's doing exactly as well as they have done in major tournaments over the past half a decade or so. Right now, I'm having a hearty laugh at the expense of someone who thinks this is some kind of sensation. Getting past the next hurdle would admittedly be something that's not an everyday feat for them, but as I already said, I don't treat even that as a total long shot.Deal with it.
Yes. Historic. Wether they were below them in IIHF rankings or not they still won more games at this olympics than they have at any olympics in the past and for the first time won their group. That by any definition is indeed historic. If they can get past Finland it would mean they would be competing for a medal and guarantee no lower than a 4th place finish which they have never done.
So yeah this is pretty historic for their program. Especially coming as far as they have in such a short period of time from their first non host qualification in 2014.
Deal with it.
Thank you.. we have no excuses... our team was full and assembled well. It just fell apart. Note I'm assuming a 5-0 loss or more against US ladies and already consider tourney over.I am really sad for the Czech Republic :-( They had a major chance win the group and get Finland in the quarters. That would have meant a decent chance to make the semis and grab the bronze medal. Instead they started their 2nd goaltender and seemed to take the Denmark game for granted as an easy win and that could be difference from the bronze and losing in the quarters. Obviously they had a second chance against Japan, but I think it was the Denmark game that sealed their fate. As its the Czechs first olympics, I guess it could still be viewed as a success, but I think the potential was there for much more.
My SDHL team Brynäs have Mrazova, Krizova and Kolowratova on the team and we also had youngster Sara Cajanova last season (I bought her game worn jersey), So I was really rooting for Czech Republic to win the group because I cheer for these players and also think CZ play great entertaining offensive hockey!
Will still cheer for them Vs USA of course and hope the miracle of all miracles to happenI dont like the new nickname Czechia though, I prefer Czech Republic!
8 players positive. Of course Russia fudges around with their testing, as per usual.
Russia doesn’t have anything to do with handling the tests, Jesus Christ8 players positive. Of course Russia fudges around with their testing, as per usual.
Shut the hell upHonestly, they don’t even try to hide the cheating anymore . . Maybe just lose their invite next olympics
USA got 2 cheap PPs, good of the CZ to hold the fort as the refs try to give USA the advantage!
Team Czech Republic needs to let go of their initial respect for USA and realize they are not superhuman. And f***** clear the zone instead of messing around with the puck. Peslarova is a good goaltender, she looks calm.
Holding out hope that Vanisvoa could cash if Czech can manage one or two shots on goal in the 2nd period!
