Hes trying to pit together a defensive pairing that can push offensively. It was a risky move with both players being so young but Nemec hasn't done much to prove he was worth being taken 2nd overall. He looked better last year on a worse Devils team. The Devils loaded up on defense in the offseason so Nemec was going to have a harder time getting any playing time on the big club unless injuries kicked in. The injury happened and Nemec has been underwhelming the few games he has played.

Frustrating how someone picked so high has looked so mediocre.
and thats the problem, he had good season last year alongside Siegenthaler , but you decided bring other guys, sended Nemec down to AHL hurting his progress and confidence in the process.

Nemec is also part of the problem, hes supposed to be better than this but i cant help myself but think this is extremely bad prospect management.. and its hurting Hughes too with this nonsene pairing of those two similar minded, same age players.

trade is best option for all parties involved right now.. Nemec can get better franchise that actually need D like him and NJD still can get something good in exchange.

I don’t know if they actually cut bait or not. But I do think he’s probably not the high-ceiling player people were talking about at 2OA. He was playing better in the AHL lately, but his play in NJ has been pretty bad and it hasn’t always been paired with Hughes.

I just hope he takes more responsibility for his own play than his stans on these boards.

Nemec needs out of that toxic place before it ruins his career development, call it getting Kakko’d
Normally I’d say a Flyers fan would be in an excellent position to identify a toxic situation seeing as how they cheer for one but in this instance I think it’s off base. NJ players are happy as a group. Whatever is ailing Nemec right now is a Nemec issue not a systemic team problem. Casey is coming along just fine.

Im possibly open to trading him but don't want to give up on him this early. Nemec only got into so many games last year was due to Hamilton getting hurt. He never played himself out of the AHL that much.

Luke Hughes has gotten alot better in his 2nd year by playing with Pesce. Maybe the right defensive partner can help Nemec but he isn't really doing much even in a sheltered 3rd pairing role...
