Nightly Curling Update:
In the same way Rachel Homan (mixed doubles) should have been left home (Kaitlyn Lawes was in the village twiddling her thumbs), Jennifer Jones is the weak link for Team Canada - AINEC.
Everyone keeps waiting for Jones to retire... and waiting and waiting and waiting. Adding Lisa Weagle as their 5th might be a sign Jones is finally ready to go after the Olympics. Sadly, it will likely be too late.
Canada's best chance to win Gold is for Jones to fake an injury and have a team of McEwen, Weagle, Peterman with Lawes as skip - it will eventually be Lawes team so make the change NOW.
Canada down 2 against Japan after 4. Come on, ladies.
Edit 1 : Canada down 3 after 5 - Jones final stone in the 4th and 5th were garbage and she allowed Japan to steal one in each end. Jones curling at 55%.
Edit 2 : Canada down 3 after 7. Everyone but McEwen is playing awful.
Edit 3 : Japan (literally) giggled themselves to victory - they sure sounded like they were having fun.
As for Canada : McEwen was very good. Peterman got better as the game went on. Lawes and Jones were terrible.
An early loss is not good but even Hasselborg is struggling.
Top 4 teams (of 10) advance. Here's hoping Jones fakes an injury.
