Dominik Hasek like performance, but no..... not happening guys... Americans are just too fast, too skilled and just much bigger than them.... wow... nice try Czech. They put their heart out, but in the end the Americans are just too good.

If the Czech's had won you could argue it would have been the biggest single game upset in sports history. The crazy thing is 2 of the 3 US goals (not counting the empty netter)were really lucky. I guess if you have 32623632 shots you're bound to create your own luck, but they were still lucky goals.

I'm glad the Czech's kept it close, at least on the score sheet. Hopefully Japan and Sweden can do the same if not pull off an upset of their own.

2-0 Team Canada Vs Sweden after 17 minutes of 1st.

Congrats to the Czech ladies for having a lead at one point and going into the intermission tied at zero. Those girls played their hearts out. A few posters acting like total jerks smashing them for not being good enough.. wow. Get some context posters. This was meant to be 10-0 and a complete mismatch. It is their first every Olympics and their first game against US. Of course they got outshot, outskated and outplayed. My analogy would be a ECHL team playing against an NHL one. The program is making gains!

Good for them. Good luck to the US going forward.

This game was good for the tournament, it was exciting almost all the way, when a blowout was expected. Czechs with 4000 womens players vs USAs 80 000 players. Czech are on the move, thats for sure! The Czech federation are really promoting womens hockey!

I mean the shots were like 56-6. It really was only exiting in the sense that it was absolutely unbelievable it was close and not 10-0 like every other non US Canada game.

I can't remember the last time I saw a BIG underdog play that hard to win. Well done.

I mean its nice to see the Czechs put up a good fight for most of the game and kept things close, but it does kinda suck that women's hockey hasn't grown much more in 24 years since it was introduced as a Olympic event. With one crazy exception where Sweden made it to the gold medal game against Canada, its been Canada vs US every single time and its not even close.

If more games were similar to this US-Czech game where even if the US ultimately wins its at least decently competitive then that would be different, but still the vast majority of games played are huge mismatches and big blowouts.

Look at curling in comparison where it was also re-introduced into the Olympics in Nagano the same time as women's hockey. You have a few countries that are very good and are considered favorites, but outside of a couple bottom teams most other teams can at least put up a decent fight and make things interesting and not get blown out every game.

That's what I wish women's hockey would be like now, but I guess it looks like its tougher for nations to get better at hockey than it is curling.
