I think it is safe to say we can take McDavid off the podium of best/most talented player ever to where he belongs. A large step down from Gretz, Lemieux, Orr, and Howe tier. Into the next tier with Crosby, Ovechkin, etc.

Crosby belongs in the Gretz, Mario tier for sure. Look at him, even way past the supposed prime years still scoring above ppg. He is a very special player.

He's demoralized. Just straight up. People always forget that these players are only human and not the superheroes some build them up to be. He's wasted his prime years in EDM being the best player in the game all while watching the organization piss it away by making one poor decision after another. The same issues that have plagued the franchise for the past 10 years still exist. He's looking more and more like a player whose had enough and is checking out mentally. I will be shocked if he signs an extension there.

He is 26 years old. Wasted what prime years lol? His prime should be 3 more years at least. He is just injured right now, plus doesn't help that nobody can finish any of the grade A chances he creates. Seriously there was 1 shift in the 3rd where he set up 5 legit scoring chances on 1 shift and they went 0/5.

Pretty obviously injured. But dumbest thing, beyond continuing to play him, is just how much he's being played. Twenty three minutes tonight, -2, 4 shots.

Meanwhile, their newly minted 4M dollar man in Connor Brown played just 10 minutes. Totally worth that bonus money

The whole is just so poorly managed in every way

He's also in Edmonton.

And the concussions and time he missed because of it. I remember when some thought he was almost done. Crosby is easy top 5 player ever to play the game. No question about it. Anyone who says otherwise has a personal agenda against him.

13 points in 15 games and on pace for 70 points? Must be the worst stretch of hockey in his career so far. Let the guy heal up.

There is a very clear 3 best fowards of alltime, and Crosby is not one of them.

Gretzky, Lemiuex and McDavid are in a league of their own statistically speaking.

Amazing as he is, McDavid is not top 3 yet all time and tbh he’s got a ways still to go before he gets there. A lot will depend on how he ages. No question he’s had a torrid first half (ish)

The statistical peak for generational players is usually 21-26. McDavid still has many more prime years but his peak offensively was likely last year.

Lol. Adjusted for era Crosby and McDavid's scoring rates are remarkably similar. If McDavid is ALREADY the third best forward all time just based on muh points, then how are you justifying putting him over Jagr?

They are not that similar actually. Here is point shares and adjusted goals created. Both account for the era.

Mc97 is clearly injured he looks like total trash, criminal the guy is getting ice time. Teams are supposed to at the very least protect their assets, gross incompetence.

Yea, you're taking McDavid's prime and Crosby's entire career. Dumb. I mean across their 18-26 years, y'know, the time McDavid has played?

Overall the numbers are closer (McDavids rates are still higher) but for Crosby alot of it was his first few years outplaying McDavids first few. McDavid has been accending every year for the past 3 (untill whatever this slow start is)

Age 18-26 Overall PS /82

McDavid 14.4
Crosby 14.1

BUT, age 24-26

McDavid 17
Crosby 13

So McDavids rates will likely keep climbing for the next few years before the decline.

That is completely incorrect. McDavid is not anywhere near the Gretzky/Lemieux tier and anyone who tried to prop him up to that level was delusional. And ignoring Howe is criminal.

McDavid has had two outlier seasons and good for him. But he is not in the Big 4.

They are not that similar actually. Here is point shares and adjusted goals created. Both account for the era.

Sure, let's compare a player in his prime, in a significantly higher scoring era, to someone in his late 30s. That should do it!

Go look up the stats man, they are not my opinion. Howe doesn't rate anywhere close to Gretzky or Lemiuex btw (and McDavid does)

Crosby and McDavid have been comparable offensive producers almost their entire careers. The only difference was the once-in-a-lifetime North Division one-off and last season. If you think McDavid is in Howe's stratosphere, you have some homework to do.
