What exactly does Reaves do?

This team hasn't defended itself since the Orr, McLaren, Fraser, Brown days. They don't give a f*** about each other. They're not a team. They're a collection of guys that wear the same jersey. It's been that way for years. They don't care about each other.

Keefe has put together a ‘group’ of individuals.

In terms of what we plan on doing with the group….
and not just him, but also our whole group.
We are a united group.

f***ing terrible job coaching if you’re looking for a team.

This is exactly what Reaves should have done. Simmonds, Clifford and Spezza stepped in to defend their teammate.
It's sad just to make the Reaves signing look better, some said Clifford and Simmonds were actually soft.

Impossible, this game never happened, haven't you read this thread?

Dubas would never put together a team like this and Keefe doesn't let players play like this.

This forum is half fan-fiction at this point. No one has answers so they make this up.

You can’t expect the short term mercenaries looking to stats pad and bet on themselves to be the glue players and drive the culture.

So Treliving brought in the wrong people?

He signed glue players to bet on themselves...

Dubas currently is running the worst team in the eastern conference I don't know why we're still pining for him to be the GM of the leafs.

No one said that... I just keep hearing we finally brought in some toughness, some character, some "snot", etc... We've had it other years.

But if we are just comparing a 10 game sample size, Dubas put together much better teams than Treliving, so why wouldn't you want him here? Looks like we've regressed a lot from last year or any of the prior years Dubas was GM. I think it is too early to tell how the team will end up, but this is just your logic.

Also, if you want to compare Dubas and the Penguins to the Leafs, I guess we can compare what Brad did in Calgary to the Leafs during that time. Not great...

It's actually quite simple, if Reaves isn't gonna cause havoc on every shift by hitting everything in sight he needs to sit in the box. He's not good enough a hockey player to go out there for a leisure skate.

Our coach is uslessreaves is our henchman but our coach doesn’t know how to use him our best players are getting their asses kicked and our useless coach is doing nothing about it last year in the playoffs simonds spent it in the box watching his teammates get injured and the coach was not even smart enough to use him

H e talks to the media and controls the tunes in the locker room
And makes sure that they are hydrated enough

... hydration is grossly under appreciated skillset ...

He was physical and fighting the first few games, but disappeared since. This is what fans of other teams said would happen - a big physical presence for a few games, then stops. Nice job signing him for 3 years Tre.

And good god is he terrible at hockey. Through 11 games he’s only played 86 5v5 minutes, and we’ve still been outscored 8-0 in that time. The only other Leafs who’ve been on the ice for 8+ 5v5 goals against are Klingberg and Nylander, 9 a piece, but they’ve played FAR more minutes, and been on for tonnes of goals for as well.

If we waive him, would we have enough cap to call up someone else from the Marlies, like Robertson or Steeves? Because he’s costing us games right now, even in the very limited minutes he plays. We just get caved in basically every shift he takes.

Yeah, but Keefe says it's just "happenstance" that those goals are scored when Reaves is on the ice. In other words, it's not his fault he's on for those goals. Well any dumb f*** could tell Reaves can't skate, is out of position, doesn't hit, and is brain dead on the ice. Most of the hits credited to him are not doing any damage or slowing anyone down.

But having said that, it's becoming apparent that the real problem with this team is coach Keefe. What idiot would put out the fourth line after we just tied the game 2-2, with a defence pairing of Lagesson and Lajoie? This line gets hemmed in every single game, what do you think would happen. And HE DID AGAIN later in the game. I'm done with Keefe.

If Reaves made a big hit every game a la Minnesota, fought once every few games and provided energy and momentum shifts and did anything vs Boston after Liljegren went down he would have made a very positive impression in Toronto.

As far as we can tell, this guy is here to make cheesy soundbites to the media, try to be a buddy to the big stars is here to brand-build for his post playing days than anything serious on the ice. He should be waived.

Schenn was a better protector and player than Reaves will ever hope to be here. What I’d give for the Leafs to have brought him back instead.

Schenn was a Leaf who came back and understood his role, played it humbly, protected his teammates and was reliable on defense. Reaves is a disappointment. Boastful and doesn't even do what he's supposed to on the ice.

Can't believe we turned down giving Schenn 2.5M and instead signed guys like Domi, Reaves, and extending Kampf knowing full well Holmberg was a solid replacement in the works

Boston understandibly refused to put Marchand on the ice at the same time as Reeves. I guess that's why teams value having Mat Cooke types on their teams. Boston doesn't have to worry about the leafs returning the favor if Marchand refuses to answer the bell.

Pizza Boy picked literally one of the biggest cream puffs in Kampf and useless Reaves instead. I hated the fact that we basically hired the first guy who became available because Shanahan had no plan whatsoever other than re-sign Dumbas.

I would rather have made Pridham interim GM and waited to find someone qualified for the role.
