What exactly does Reaves do?

I did want a guy like Reaves on this team, but I did not know how cooked he was as a player. Neither did Treliving. As pathetic as it is, our guys have next to 0 respect around the league. They needed a bodyguard. So other players think a little longer before doing disrespectful shit like Gudas did to our rookie goalie.

The bruins thought a bit longer when Marchand cheap shot Lilly and then laughed at Reaves yapping on the bench.

How are players intimidated while wearing plastic armour and a shield? Most of the time they are wrecking their hands on plastic.

I have no issue with a tough player that can play the game of hockey. Offers a skill. But players like Reaves are not needed….unless of course when the rules change in playoffs where the NHL promotes those types

I think what made it worse is people discrediting Simmonds. They justified the Reaves signing by saying Simmonds wasn't actually tough. Simmonds lost his ability to play hockey, but he was always a tough player and that still stayed.
Frankly, it's embarassing people insulted him and made up false facts just to protect Reaves.
Also when Simmonds was getting scratched, he never said a word. Unlike Reaves who is complaining.

Wayne Train couldn’t play by the end but that Cop mentality that is needed in an enforcer never went away and he was more than willing to drop the gloves to protect teammates and not just fight after he laid a decent hit. Frankly I’d rather have just re-signed Simmonds to league minimum at this point. Or better yet just call up Clifford when we need muscle or a bodyguard, guy is a warrior himself and jumps in to defend his Marlies teammates all the time.

Is it possible for you to respond to one of my posts without mentioning Dubas? Especially weird when I never mention him. Try it, just once.
No I can't, it's just too obvious what you're doing. Everyone sees it.

Regarding Kerfoot: the biggest mistake they made was not trading him after he put up 51 points. I'm not gonna debate about what kind of player he was, we had plenty of viewings of what he was. Nobody misses him except you.

Seems like yapping in the media is all Reaves can do. He can’t honestly watch his own game video from this season and make any public statements about sitting, when sitting is the only thing he can do these days.

This guy couldn’t even face punch when the situation called for it. His only play now is to get demoted to the Marlies and just be a well compensated AHLer till 2026. Not the worst gig but don’t make it bigger than it is.

I don't get the problem with criticizing a terrible offseason. I criticized moves Dubas, Lou and Nonis made too.

Pretty sure Keefe misses him too considering how few forwards get regular ice time in the 3rd period these days

No, the mistake was letting him go without even bothering to try and find a replacement of ANY kind. Kerfoot was only really hated in Toronto because he was part of the Kadri trade and his contract was around a million too high per year.

Can you honestly say that giving Kerfoot's money to Kampf and Reaves (or Domi) has improved this team?

The smart move NOW would be to see if Holmberg or Grregor can fill the Kerfoot role, but Keefe ain't gonna try that.

The problem is if the other guy isn't going to fight (and no top six/four guy is going to fight him) is he's basically handing the other team a free instigator or major penalty if he tries anything.
Answer is jump 1 guy every 50 games all they need is the threat.

I miss him when I watch Max Domi, and when I watch our PK this year

The Maple Leafs are either such a country club that they can defang a goon in 10 games and turn him into this, or someone came in with an iPad and told Reaves not to do Reaves type things. I think it’s a little of column A little of column B.

That's one jump every season? Not much of a threat!
If it's 1 savage beating. No one wants to fight him they just skate away. It's also basic strategy on the other team. However if you know he will which he hasn't shown it's absolute zero of a deterrent. Now 1 in every 50 you get like maybe 3 savage beat downs a year were someone just fights knowing they will get suspended. First ones probably 3 games next one's probably 10. Heat of the moment excuse. Then last ones 25. Career to move on. However that's the last thing he wants shot across the media just another angry Brother will be how it looks on the league. However if you know hockey it has to be done. Or you remove him. Like I stated everyone knows just to skate away so he has to bring the fight to them. Even if it changes the player they were like Stevens has done. All it would take is the fear that he will.

The way folks would badmouth Simmonds and Clifford for that matter was definitely unfair. Both guys were good soldiers, and while obviously would prefer to be NHL regulars themselves, never complained having to ride the bus in the AHL

What is puzzling is that people expected Reaves to do any better when those other guys had flopped

Well Keefe is a moron so I can see why Reaves is upset.

Funny how these grit and sandpaper types always flop when they come to Toronto, despite being successful in other places. There's been too many players through here at this point to think it's a coincidence.

When has Reaves been successful? If you think the 37 year old enforcer with shredded knees is being held back by Keefe, you're just wrong
