What exactly does Reaves do?

Why would they sign a guy that says "his knees are so loose he can't play without braces"?

Did they not do any due medical diligence? And a 37 year old for 3 years? yikes.

I don't think it's any more complicated than Tre really wanted him, didn't care about the details of the contract as long as they got it done.

Remember, this was the Leafs first signing of free agency, announced literally minutes into it formally opening

Not looking very good on him now, same with Klingberg who was known to have issues.

Technically it was reported before July 1

Not sure what you’re talking about. Knies has always been willing to try the creative play, for better or worse. If anything he’s been warming up to more physical play as the season has gone on.

You might also call it calculated risks. If they work, they work, if not you can stash them on LTIR.
Don't believe when you look at the "calculated risk" words in the dictionary, you will see "Reaves, Klingberg, Murray" are there. LTIR means you are wasting cap space daily during the season. Tavares is a calculated risk.

I believe teams can talk to other teams' pending UFAs 2(??) weeks before the FAD. So, you are right Tre REALLY wanted him for some reason, maybe he saw enough of him in his Knights jersey.

So is this Reeves thing going to turn into a Lupul situation?

Is he going to be outspoken until the end?

My guess is they waive him and he wont report and the Leafs terminate his contract.
He will spill the tea on how the Leaf leadership is trash and the reason they cant/wont win
lol, I was actually thinking along the same lines. Like Tre signed him to get some intel, cut him loose and have Reaves air the dirty laundry on the core group.

This is probably far fetched, but it sounds like fun

It was strange when they signed him and openly said they felt they had an dressing room issue and now Revo is the problem?
Seems like a managment issue.
Although the big 4 did get benched for one PP and AM and MM sat a few shifts so not sure that wiuld of happened in the past.
Would be fun if Revo did come out and say what Luke and Ryan O wouldnt

Actually, I just looked up the definition in the dictionary and it had a picture of Murray and Klingberg there. 100% those 2 are/were calculated risks, I wouldn't classify Revo as such.

Not sure his judgement is valued, but for sure Bettman will find a job for him. He fits the mould for head of discipline.

Hard to see the player throwing away his last couple years of NHL paydays.

We didn't hire him for his knees. We hired fists.

Glad it all worked out. No one is messing with Leafs while Reaves is here.

He was THE TOUGHEST GUY in the league. Unless you skate away, then he can't follow :D **

edit: Reaves is Aquaman :D :D

Not sure I've seen any top professional boxers wearing braces on both knees so they don't pop out. Can't see this being appropriate for fisticuffs, let alone skating. I would be hesitant fighting heavyweights in the NHL if I had bad knees. LTIR is the best thing for him and he'll still get paid. I think he just needs more time to accept his future which isn't an active NHLer. I don't want to see him get hurt on the ice.

Medical issues don't seem to bother this organization. I think they think they can solve everyone's issues. It was the same with Kase, Timmins and Murray.

I'd like to see him sent through waivers, nobody is taking him. It'll give us more flexibility.

I'd bring him up for some games, keep him in shape for now. I really want him to be available come playoff time. If we run into the same garbage we did with Florida, I'd inject Reeves into the lineup to correct some behaviour- we have nobody else to play this role, besides undersized, 40 year old Giordano.

The difference of course being that those players had a history of injuries, but were healthy and in their 20s when they were brought in, whereas Reaves was in his late 30s and had ongoing and unfixable medical issues, and was still somehow given the most term of them all.

He may understand that its his last stop and becomes PK/Bizz
Networks want to cash in on hos personality
They wouldn’t pay him what his contract does but he could do that anyway without giving up his NHL money.

Based on his event media comments, I don't think Reaves is going to willingly go away on ltir until it becomes clear he's not wanted on the Leafs or another team.

So either that happens, he's traded or Keefe puts him back in the lineup.
