What exactly does Reaves do?

Well reaves or Perry at league minimum lol
I thought I heard that after the first season we can just bury him in the mealies or something and he just goes away?!

They can bury him on the Marlies at any time but his salary is over the buriable amount so we will have some wasted cap space for the next 2.5 years unless they can get him on Robidas island (and his comments suggest he will fight that as much as he can).

Yeah he sucks, we get it. But are these the same stats that try to show Timmons is an NHL calibre dman?
JFresh once told me Benoit wasn't an NHL dman. JFresh fans then spam threads with graphs and numbers. JFresh doesn't know much.

Reeves is shit.

ooh i love spamming charts!

idk tho he has Benoit as a much better player than Reaves at least. I wouldn't say this describes Benoit as not a NHL player.

if he doesn't know much I'm not sure what I can say about the people here who were defending the Reaves signing, present company included. But at least he's not Kerfoot, who would be our highest scorer outside Rielly and the core 4 while providing good defensive play. I remember how adamant you were that he was a big problem!

You have to wonder if Keefe and Treliving have the same game plan?

The Maple Leafs signed the 37-year-old Reaves to a three-year contract worth $4.05 million. The contract will put the enforcer into his 40s by the time the contract expires.

Treliving said the third year was necessary in order to pry him from Minnesota.

"At the end of the day you’d like them all short (term) but at the end of the day you want to get the players," Toronto's GM said. "They wanted him to stay in Minnesota and he was given an opportunity to speak to teams earlier. And we were able to talk to him and work out a deal. We felt like we had to go where we had to get Ryan on board."

So, since there was competition for him, maybe they'd take him back for future considerations.

Perry wasn't available at League minimum and wouldn't be looked at to bring what they hoped Reaves would deliver.

The impact is not huge, but not nothing on a capped out team.

The more important concern is process that got them there. The result is not hugely significant, but signing a 37 year old enforcer with jello knees to a 3-year contract well above league minimum, as priority #1 20 minutes into free agency, raises a lot of questions about the process.

And then to see the signing collapse in such a rapid fashion just makes things look even worse.

The guy has only played 1/4 of a single season with the team and looks like a complete flop of a contract.

I semi defended the signing at the time because I thought he'd at least be entertaining. Eggs on my face lol

Meh much of Kerfoots 5vs5 advanced stats actually look better when he was on Toronto. He's just getting more PP time now. In 82 games last season for leafs he had only 55 powerplay minutes. In 45 for the Coyotes he already has 88.

In terms of even strength he is pacing similar minutes and similar point totals as he had with Toronto.

fair point but similar point totals as he had in Toronto with good defense is still a very solid contributor, that would still be our ~5th/6th best forward depending on how much you like Jarnkrok.

I think what made it worse is people discrediting Simmonds. They justified the Reaves signing by saying Simmonds wasn't actually tough. Simmonds lost his ability to play hockey, but he was always a tough player and that still stayed.
Frankly, it's embarassing people insulted him and made up false facts just to protect Reaves.
Also when Simmonds was getting scratched, he never said a word. Unlike Reaves who is complaining.

Minor impact but with what's come to light recently regarding his health this signing was bad, have to assume they would know about something like that, or could/should have.

Wondering what may have prevented them from signing him at 4x1m so there was never a cap hit risk.

Remember all the stuff he said before the season began? How stuff wouldn't happen anymore now that he is around? The Marchand goes and slew foots Lilly and he does nothing. He hasn't been a factor since he arrived and sadly if he can't see ice time in the regular season why would they dress him in the playoffs?

Bad signing Tre.

He's getting usage in Arizona that he's never gotten in Toronto, and is getting far more TOI.

Dubas fans always love to squeal about context yet you're missing quite a bit here, intentionally it looks like.

We had 4 years of Kerfoot never being even close to the best offensive player on the team outside of the big 4 but now all of a sudden he could be? gimme a f***ing break.

Just curious what do people think he was suppose to do?
Stand up for his teammates. If nobody wants to fight him, he needs to throw a big hit, go to the net and back his ass up into the goalie and dare somebody to do something or stir the pot. Chirping after the game does nothing. He needs to be a bully out there and dare somebody to do something about it. Look at the stuff guys like Matt Tkachuk, Sam Bennett or Nick Cousins do - he needs to do that too.

Kerfoot put up 51 points for us a couple years ago. Do you think any of our supporting cast hits that this year? The only reason he wasn't our best offensive player outside of the big 4 was because we had Bunting. He's typically been our best outside the big 4 and Hyman/Bunting, though I might take Jarnkrok over him too. It's frustrating that we signed guys that looked to be offensive upgrades but they haven't been, they're simply big defensive downgrades. Swapping Kerfoot and Bunting for Bertuzzi and Domi this year is a massive failure by any measure.

Is it possible for you to respond to one of my posts without mentioning Dubas? Especially weird when I never mention him. Try it, just once.
