Now I play Rimworld and what I did to the Sims seems tame by comparison.

I tried it once probably a decade ago. Booted up the game, was immediately confused and terrified, closed it, uninstalled it, and never went back.

I may give the current version on steam a go one day, if/when it goes on a big sale.

I understand that completely. It does now actually look like a game and you don't have to use the insane keyboard shortcuts. I had a binder with the damn things printed out just to play.

Still very much a no middle ground game, though.

Yep. NoClip did a documentary on it/them. It’s the most insanely detailed game that will ever exist.

Dwarf Fortress is masterpiece. The original ASCII graphics version is still free and worth playing. A tile set makes it much easier.

Some of those are narrow bands of taste, so if it's not up your alley, don't buy it thinking it will change your mind on a genre.

*Edit* Don't buy Dead Cells. It's free with Netflix on various platforms now with all of the DLC. Do that instead.

The skins not the prize there. It’s those stickers. Each sell for more than $90,000, last I saw, because you can’t get them anymore.

They were from sticker capsules (at the time cost like $2, now worth around $32,000) you could buy and open during a major professional event during 2014. So there’s only a few of them left in the world (all owned by rich collectors) and there’s only a tiny chance to get this specific sticker in each.

Almost certainly not. Those stickers are an anomaly, both because of the insane rarity and also the fact that they include teams/designs that are highly sought after and not available anymore. Plus, the game released in China a little while back, which drastically raised prices of almost everything, since Chinese investors started buying up everything of value. That's why most of my stuff has gone up 3x in value.

Yeah, you have to pay to open cases. Keys are $2.49 and you can either buy the cases or earn them from playing the game. But they range from really cheap to really expensive, depending on what kind of skins are available inside and also whether they're still available as drops or not.

It's literal gambling except worse. The only way they make money is if they are a big streamer and spend 10k over hours of people streaming to them, making up all the money they spent.

Only if you’re a streamer on YouTube or Twitch who’s opening cases while getting donations.

Making a profit on opening cases is not happening, unless you have freak luck early on and then immediately stop.
