If/when you start playing, just remember it's based on a tabletop game, and the developers did a fantastic job of bringing that to the screen. You're gonna have a lot of wiggle room in how you approach pretty much everything, from dialogue to combat.I’ve heard only good things about this game! I’m going to give the 2 hour trial a shot to see if it’s something I’d be interested in. Gotta get familiar with D&D first though lol. That’ll help I’m thinking
Just as a couple of examples, I was having difficulty in one fight against a tough enemy with several smaller enemies around her, so I had to start actually thinking instead of just tying to slug it out. The fight takes place right next to a small bridge over a bottomless pit. You can actually destroy the bridge, so I tried to park my wizard next to the bridge and kite the tough enemy over onto it so I could destroy it and drop her into the pit. Great idea, but one of the smaller enemies walked over and pushed my wizard into the pit.
So I re-load, and spend some time pushing the smaller enemies into the pit (the were patrolling the area back and forth over the bridge, and if none of the other enemies could see what I was doing so they didn't attack) to cut down on their numbers before I attacked. Made the encounter MUCH easier.
In another fight, I stupidly parked my party around an exploding barrel, which the bad guys promptly exploded, catching all my guys on fire. No problem, I have a cleric who can conjure water and douse my party. What I didn't think about was the spell my wizard had cast which connected him to an enemy with a bolt of lightning, and was now interacting with the water and shocking my whole party.
Great stuff. I really don't know of another game that translates a tabletop experience so seamlessly.
