Speculation: Vancouver Canucks are asking for Kadri + Bozak or Kadri + Gardiner for Luongo

Judging by what I've read from a few Canucks fans, they would like Bozak to slide into the 2nd line C position until Kesler comes back.

Roberto Luongo + frankie Corrado + Hansen for Bozak + gardiner + 1st
Canucks get a young D stud, a 1st insurance policy and a fill in 2nd line center.
Leafs get a elite goalie, our top prospect behind kassian + Our most reliable and consistent forward not named sedins or kesler.

Couldn't justify trading both Gards and our first rounder, given the state of the team that first could be a very high pick regardless of how good Luongo can be (Florida couldn't win with him)

Probably not a bad deal value-wise, but yea can't see many (if any) Leaf fans being ok with trading a 1st and one of the rare good prospects that we have that have shown some success. Seems like trading either one of those things always bites us in the ass.
Gardiner isn't going anywhere for a short term improvement IMO, even though it's a big improvement, and we have enough defensive prospects of equal or greater caliber to Corrado.
Edit: Just saw Hansen in there. I really like him but he doesn't really fill a need for us, not enough to give away Gardiner and a 1st.

No from Leafs - Luongo no need for yet another explanation, We have plenty of defencemen prospects better than Corrado and of a similar type (Finn, Nilsson right off the top of my head) and while I like Hansen's wheels and decent finish he's yet another bottom 6 player and that's not an organizational need. Bozak sure, but you're not getting Gardiner and a 1st for that IMO

I was worried that Burke was walking on thin ice, and would acquire Luongo, just to save his job. I liked Burke, he's really only made one deal that "looks" bad, otherwise, he's made some spectacular trades. Not a big fan of his ego though, and how often it came before the team.
Having said that, I'm very relieved with Nonis's comments, hopefully this put Jonathon Bernier on the radar, instead of Luongo. Definitely more risk, but also more reward. I'd take a flyer on Luongo, but not if it means sacrificing the future.
Also, I hope Nonis, keeps with making the Leafs a "tough" team.

He doesn't need to. He keeps saying he's not going to be moving a long-term guy for a short-term gain. Kadri is part of that.

What I also find hard to understand anyone, especially Nonis or any other GM, not getting is the error in logic in thinking 'Luongo will get us to the playoffs, he's an elite goalie" Is that the aim, just make the playoffs so we can experience Luongo gettting rattled like he has shown a propensity to do in the post season? Who's going to be his Chicago of the East? And we're supposed to pony up talent and take on that contract so we can have the pleasure of 'making the playoffs' before bowing out with a goalie who's shown he's flappable in the postseason? Big no thanks, I hope Nonis tells Gillis not interested on any terms

Bozak is fine, he's replaceable(In the short term by Connolly, then summer we make a trade, as the season isnt that long so it wont hurt us that much)
