It is so interesting to read these Leaf fan posts. Lou is a really good guy and I think a lot of Canuck fans would prefer he went to Florida which would get him out of the media spotlight. If he comes to TO there will be an intense spotlight on him because so many fans will be saying Nonis overpaid to get him. He could almost singlehandedly get the Leafs into the post season no matter who got sent to the Canucks.

He might never be able to satisfy Leaf fans and ultimately might get run out of town by the media and the boo birds unless he played lights out and the team made the post season.

Loungo to Florida, or Philly, or Chicago. But not the Leafs please.

...or so you guys fervently hope.

Nonis reiterated today...guys like Gardiner and Rielly are big parts of the future and won't be moved for vet players.

How bad that is would depend on how the new draft lottery is weighted.

Still no news on that.

It will almost certainly be like the NBA draft lottery. Look at past history in the NBA, the teams finishing 9/10 in their conference having an astronomically low chance of picking high.

Of the top 60 goalies rated Luongo was 11th. The Toronto goaltending was Reimer 32 and Scrivens 52. I think that says a lot. We need a #1 goalie and let the young guys progress more.

Rated by whom?

Luongo rumor to Toronto won't fade. Burke wanted him bad and Nonis will push as well, but Canucks insist other teams are in play.

I'm sorry but your logic is ridiculously off. First of all, Kadri is being groomed to be a winger, but could still play C. And by your logic, Edmonton already has a #1 RW (Eberle), so they should just trade Yakupov, there is no spot for him. You keep your best forward prospects, as young forwards can easily be shifted from C to RW/LW.

Where was Grabo at age 22? I'll tell you... he had 3 GP with 0 points and a -2 rating. Up until the 2008-09 season (when he was 24 years old), Grabo had accumulated 9 points in 27 NHL games (0.33 PPG). He was also much smaller than what Kadri is now.

It's funny you use Grabo, because he is the poster boy for being patient with your prospects. I don't know why you're so quick to give up Kadri when you appreciate Grabo.

I never said i gave up on Kadri. What i don't see is how Kadri has much more upside than Grabo and how they are similar players? Grabo was always a hard back-checking and tough-nosed player from the start. Kadri is not that...i am not saying its impossible for him to change but i am sorry there is not comparing their styles....especially if you are saying the Kadri is going to be converted into a winger in the NHL (which you are right, maybe the only option for Leafs if we stick with the current abundance of centers).

And for the record, the only reason i am even suggesting moving ANY of our young prospects is because i believe we need a #1 goalie for the next 5-7 years, and Luongo is the only option that wont cost us multiple 1sts + multiple prospects!

Honestly, IMO, I think it was that Burke was willing to give Gardiner so the owners fired him.

Now that Nonis is here, we can expect something less.

Sorry guys, but I agree Grabo hustles better and more than Kadri. Kadri floats too much. In fact I believe they have shown some cases of it when they aired a Marlie/Bulldog game where Kadri let a player skate by him and score on a pass. Kadri has very poor defensive efforts and that wont sit well with Carlyle. Grabo skates hard on every shift, and puts in better efforts as a team player. Kadri to me, again IMO is a me first player. He has all the abilities but gets lazy in the defensive zone.

just my opinion with no factual evidence but....

i believe boston will be in trouble relying on Tuukka Rask as their goto guy.. i dont think he is number one material.. i recall a few games where he stunk it up while thomas was injured/unable to play

also i believe vancouver may run into the same problem with schneider after they trade luongo

also if the leafs were able to add luongo it would do wonders in developing Riemer

not easy being a young goalie with the added pressure of carrying the team on your back

Not the case at all. When Grabovski was Kadri's age, he had just arrived in NA for his first season here. It was a couple seasons later that Montreal figured out he was a selfish, egomaniacal puck-hog who they had to run out of town. It took another season after that for him to "get it" and start actually working hard at being a respectable, complete player, which he did in spades.

i can't wait for the 'trade cory, start lack' chants from our fanbase.
