Speculation: Vancouver Canucks are asking for Kadri + Bozak or Kadri + Gardiner for Luongo

Players will demand NMC's before signing long term I'm sure.
 
If you asked me yesterday to trade Kadri and Gardiner for Lou, i'd have said no way. Today i'm asking if giving up Beauchemin and Kadri for Lupul and Luongo? Heck yes.
 
You get Luongo, he becomes the face of the franchise for the next 4 years at least. That takes heat off Nonis, Kessel, everyone. That's a big deal, imo

He would also make Toronto a much more attractive desination than it is now. But, all of those advantages will be in vain if we have to give up too much future quality or too many future pieces.

If Philly is indeed in the hunt, I think they will most certainly make a greater push than us, and get it done, seeing how they're in a win now mode.

We most certainly have the better pieces off the roster, but I don't see us parting with them.

Philly isn't going after Luongo.

Philly (and a lot of our other rivals) do this to us all the time. They know the pressure has just been ratcheted up on Nonis to get Luongo.

They're just trying to add a little gas to the fire hoping we make a bad trade.

The value there isn't bad but consider the personnel.

Moving Bozak and Kadri makes our center position even more pitiful. We're essentially moving our #1 center and only real top six center prospect (well center/wing - outside shots to guys like Colborne) for a goalie. We need a goalie but our center spot just got that much worse. Connolly isn't a bad player but he's oft injured and didn't seem to mesh well with Kessel and Lupul. That leaves McClement and Steckel.

Not a pretty picture to be honest. If this happens a center trade needs to come soon thereafter.

If its an option, it might be best going forward to pick up a veteran backup to support Reimer and run with him as our goalie of the future. He's a good young goalie with potential coming off a sophomore slump.

Reimer/vet would be good. Reimer/Scrivens is way too much gambling for my tastes.

luongo is not coming here ,and kadri will not be traded this year.we are in another dirty era of nonis being the next sympathised gm given a unwarranted amout of loser forgiveness.the question is since nonis has been part of the problem,should he be afforded any time to prepare anything other than daily.no ,and i doubt he expects even a small amount of loser forgiveness .the problem arose out of burke either wanting or not wanting luongo. i say it was wanting ,and was refused .either way burke was refused ,and lost it on them.thats it . Kadri is going to be ok in all this ,and won't be goin anywhere . hopefully Reimer/Scrivens start the season for us furthermore ,why else would nonis be so adamant to express his higher level of patience above his predecessor ?pile b.s coming at us again .It is amazing how character is stifled ,by yellow corporate rats hiding in the shadows,making all the rules but not playing the game,and i don't mean hockey game either . thanks burkie!

honestly, you know what is going to happen, trade away Reimer and allow him to thrive in a place without a microscope and the guy will play like Schneider...

So, if I bought a house 10 years ago for $300,000 cash and sold it for $500,000 a couple of years later then bought a new house for $500,000 that is now worth $800,000 it would be a good idea to sell my current house for $300,000 because that is what I actually paid for it?

That's my feeling. We (or at least 'I') only heard of Florida/Leafs as the destinations. Now, on the eve of Burke's firing, Philly wants in? I doubt it. Philly's a great name to throw in there too because of how they made huge splashes in the past (if your trying to scare the other team into making a move).

I wouldn't put it past Philly to make the move, I just think with the timing of the rumour I don't think it's more than what you said - gas to the fire.

I'm not a fan o bozak but I have to stand up for him a little. He plays on a top line right? So technically he is the top line centre. His skill is in his speed. I'm not sold that he is a #1 centre but I think hE is the leafs second best and because he can actually skate with kessel is their only real option going forward.
 
It is so interesting to read these Leaf fan posts. Lou is a really good guy and I think a lot of Canuck fans would prefer he went to Florida which would get him out of the media spotlight. If he comes to TO there will be an intense spotlight on him because so many fans will be saying Nonis overpaid to get him. He could almost singlehandedly get the Leafs into the post season no matter who got sent to the Canucks.

He might never be able to satisfy Leaf fans and ultimately might get run out of town by the media and the boo birds unless he played lights out and the team made the post season.

Loungo to Florida, or Philly, or Chicago. But not the Leafs please.
