Speculation: Vancouver Canucks are asking for Kadri + Bozak or Kadri + Gardiner for Luongo

Kadri is a decent prospect. He'll probably be a decent 2nd liner who is good on the PP. I'd like to hold onto him, but if it's for Luongo, then I'm in for sure.

Luongo is a better goalie than Kadri will ever be a forward. Luongo is elite, and he would make this team infinitely better as goalie is by far the most important position. If Reimer pans out, then he can gradually take over in a few years and Lu will be a mentor.
 
As bad as Reimer had been last season, I strongly believe he deserves a fair chance this season.

Even Allaire is gone now, so hopefully he attacks more out of the net.

I agree, even for the Marlies Rynnas performance have improved a lot from last year after Rick St. Croix replaced Allaire. Scrivens' performance is about the same.

Bahaha I will lose my mind if all the tankers rejoice at buries dismissal, only to trade two top prospects for a 34 year old

I've been avoiding every thing hockey for a while and have no clue about this new CBA. I need to read up on it to even have a chance at a good conversation.

What is this trade him away and pay him less? Trade him and still pay a part of his salary?

Also how are the really long term contracts being treated in the new cba? grandfathered in? or what?

Does anyone know any good threads on HF that has more about the new CBA?
 
I would rather go with a goaltender off the street than trade Gardiner or Kadri. Luongo is a great goaltender but his contract and age are not appealing. Even if Luongo is great for about three years then what? Back to no prospects, no goalie. I'd trade players that are at least over the age of 24.
 
I can't even put in to words how frustrated and disappointing this entire situation is. The ONLY way to turn this thing around is blowing it up completely. Is that an option right now? Absolutely not. This team has to make the playoffs... Leafs can't rebuild because they haven't made the playoffs in nearly 10 years... but its the only solution. It's basicly a loose-loose situation. It feels like theres no hope... and to me it takes the fun away in being a fan. I've been a fan since i was 5 years old and never in my life have i felt so ashamed of this franchise. At this point I'm just praying we can get a goalie like Luongo via trade because god who would ever sign here in free agency. I'm surprised he is willing to waive his NTC to come to this mess. I don't even believe a player like Getzlaf would ever consider us. Horrible feeling to have.

Strong overreaction. Just calm down. It's not that big of a deal. We are staying the course pretty much.

Yeah no kidding. it's not like a bunch of leafs have been traded away for nothing. We just lost BB. All the team is intact and Nonis is Captain of the ship. Not that much of a change.
 
People are frustrated because again, it's the MLSE/Rogers/whoever brass making hockey decisions.

And they don't know **** about hockey.

yea man, relax. things won't change too much. we will still benefit from the good that burke's done, going forward. if mlse doesn't keep their word and cans nonnis this summer then it's another rebuild.

as of right now we have the same mentality going forward without a loudmouth baboon that embarrasses the franchise when ever he opens his mouth

they are not making hockey decisions man. the Luongo thing is all speculations. look at the jays- do they interfere with AA... there's no indication.

they just want a more professional guy representing the franchise and I agree 100%.

see the guy in your avatar? remember when burke said his number one goal is to trade and get the 1st pick lol what kind of gm says things like that? it went on and on
i for one and glad he's gone

burke was a sideshow and made this franchise into even a bigger joke than it needed to be. after 4 years he was still the face of the franchise, and not for good reasons

Kadri + Gardiner for Luongo = no way in hell
Kadri + Bozak for Luongo = I'd probably still stay away

Let's actually build properly for once, hanging onto our talented youngsters, and drafting high. Luongo is 33, on a monster contract, and we're still likely a few years away from having even a chance to contend even with Luongo. He's a very good goalie, but time-frame wise I'm not sure he's a good fit.

This draft is absolutely stacked, and it's ESPECIALLY stacked with centres. If there was ever a year to tank, this would be it, and Luongo would mean no high pick (though probably still no playoffs). Tanking would also be way less painful than normal, since it's only a half season, not a full season. MacKinnon, Jones, Drouin, Lindholm, Barkov and Monahan are all guys who would go top 3 most seasons, and 4 of them are centres (all but Jones and Drouin). If we finish in the bottom 6 this year, we actually have a GREAT shot at drafting a guy who could become a good #1 centre. This is not the time to trade for Luongo IMO, and ESPECIALLY not at the cost of some of our better young players.
 
I thought we had Luongo in the bag for a reasonable price but the Phily reports have me nervous. The best thing that can happen is we lose out on Luongo and the team implodes its way to another top-5 pick or better.

at first it was 'fire' but long ago it was evident it's all failed promises

'i don't want 5 year rebuilds'
'i want to trade for the 1st pick'
'we could of made the playoffs if i traded schenn'
' we could of had 4 1st round picks at the deadline'

common man, someone can easily come up with 20 crazy things he's said
our franchise is enough of a joke with just the play on the ice

if burke was just a loudmouth and the results were there, i'd think about it twice. but they weren't
 
Ok watching TSN Bob Mackenzie said he doesnt believe the whole Burke got fired because he didnt want to do a Luongo deal because teams cant even really start "trading" yet so how can a guy get fired when he cant even make a trade yet.

He also said that he believes Luongo would have been a leaf even with Burke but neither Burke or Nonis will overpay.

Dreger went onto say that Nonis isnt a rookie, wont overpay for Luongo even with the Canucks high asking price.

Dreger listed 3 things:
- Kadri
- Bozak
- draft pick

i believe both these guys more than Bob McCown

exactly

after 4 years he couldn't bring in a face of the franchise type player........or a goalie........ or an elite center

i for one will enjoy a quiet gm like AA that swings a big bat

burke was the exact opposite... all bark and no bite
