Anyone have any idea what they are doing with the score clock? All of the ads are off of it with exposed lights. Kinda have to assume it’s just new sponsors going up..
If they never plan to get a centre ice video board they should really look into screens like the Red Wings have at Grant Harvey. (Just trying to spend other people’s $)

I don’t know if the ads on that have ever been updated…they’re probably due for an update.
On a similar topic…I was surprised to see that the golf tournament a few weeks ago was held at West Hills GC and not Kingswood…and then it was announced a few days later West Hills is now the “official golf course” of UNB.

I know Brian Johnson and Roger Shannon are really good friends (despite what that cheeseball movie about the friendship series portrays) , Kingswood is a major sponsor of the FRed Wings , kinda wonder if Kingswood just had a limited sports sponsorship budget and decided to spend it on the Junior team.

They are now promoting the games this weekend as the Pete Kelly Cup…wonder if that means no games over Christmas?

Holy shit I’m keen to get to the rink this week. I go to 80% of the Jr.A games in Freddy , and probably a dozen more Jr.B and midget AAA games each year , watch an unhealthy amount of NHL hockey , play pickup 3+ times a week and go to all the UNB games and I can say that my enjoyment of all the others combined doesn’t come close to CIS hockey for me. Every year this is like Christmas lol. I’m in a rink more than every other day but I feel like I haven’t been in one since Charlottetown . I’m sure you can all relate since you’re posting here lol.
Anyways will be good to get back and see all the faces I haven’t seen in months (blows my mind how many AUC regulars I never see at any other hockey)!

On that note get out and watch some tier 2 hockey! They almost always schedule around the UNB men, the hockey is not nearly as high skill or refined as AUS hockey but it’s chaotic in a very entertaining way!

Former UNB recruit Hayden Hodgson in the news for laying out Mark Stone. He played at least one exhibition game for UNB (was part of that crazy 17/18 rookie class with Bennett , Boland , Leblanc and Pomerleau).

I don't run the music during the game, I run the people who do it and the equipment is mostly mine.
These days I mostly do the stats during the games... but I've done pretty much everything besides coaching and playing. Video, stats, clock, equipment manager... my goal is to drive the Zamboni before I retire from the university lol

I definitely will not complain if they keep Sproule-McGurn-Corbeil together !
McGurn played the point on the #1 PP unit and was very impressive.
Both McGurn and McGinley scored . McGinley skates much better than I expected for such a tall skinny kid.
UNB doesn’t have the total game-breaker offensive guy this year (Clapperton , Boland , Hennigar , Trembaly etc) but they are scary deep, any one of Keating , Gilmour , Sproule , Wilms , Corbeil could lead the team in scoring and I wouldn’t be shocked ….and who knows what McGurn does.

Were the d-pairs , again crazy deep.

That’s a pretty lethal top 9…then mix in Nurse/Baber/Carson and it’s probably the best forward group 1-12 in the country.
My biggest concern is injuries as they only have 13 forwards and 7 defencemen right now.
I couldn’t make the game…curious how big the crowd was tonight?

I’d say 75% full, considering Leo Hayes was playing football in the same parking lot , the women were playing at the AUC , the amount of construction seemingly everywhere in the city it wasn’t a bad turn out . Kind of a fun atmosphere, 75-80% full Willie O’Ree is more exciting than 50% AUC , which it pains me to say because I hate all these cookie cutter 1,500 seat rinks in multi ice buildings (4-plex , GH , O’Ree)

I agree that injuries could prove an issue - they had few injuries last season and that never lasts!
Per normal, I suspect Gardiner will bring in a couple of players who get tired of riding the buses in the ECHL (after dreaming of sticking in the AHL) at Christmas.

Ironically (or coincidentally)…they have been pretty fortunate with regards to injuries since the roster cap has been implemented IMO.
