What they did to April O'Neil is inexcusable. The 80's/90's cartoon is still the pinnacle for the franchise unfortunately. They just can't get out of their own way and let people who know what actual fans want run things. Even the IDW comic run from a few years ago with the reincarnation origin story was great. At least the recent video game Shredder's Revenge was perfect but because it was source accurate and didn't pander to nonsense.

The best TMNT for me is the 1990 movie, 2003 series, 2007 movie (see my avatar), because they were darker like the comics. 2012 series had its moments but was still more of a Nickelodeon type show but they did kill off main characters. lol.

The Last Ronin series rejuvenated the franchise on the comic level. I’m ok with this series if it helps the franchise overall.

Im sorta late to this, had a lot of fun binging on this. And yeah the translations were great. I really wonder what “cruel” was. They said “ this is so cruel” or “that is so cruel” a majority of the series when describing challenges.
Cruel = f***ed up maybe? Lol

If they can tell a good story without Shredder, it's a win. Turtles is one of those series with a great gallery of rogues like Batman or X-Men, but they always have to revert to the obvious which gets really old.

I loved the 2009 CG movie because it tried something different and stayed away from Shredder.

The 1990 movie I didn't love as a kid because I was more familiar with the animated show from the comics, but I've come to appreciate more as an adult. Even though Elias Koteas plays Casey Jones too light/Bill Murray, it got me to really like the actor.

CG movie was great, so underrated. It really showed the tension between Raph and Leo. The 1990 movie really only scratched the surface of that.

What did they do to April? It's hard to tell from the trailer, but it just appears she's a younger version of herself (so cadet reporter/senior school paper journalist), kind of like the turtles.

Looking forward to the movie, first one my kids have shown interest in since the Nick cartoon

Recent:

Perry Mason - lovable loser type attorney show set in the 30's. Pretty good drama.

Glass Onion - honestly, expected more. It was okay.

Picard - season 3 is the best Star Trek in quite some time. Maybe ever. Definitely more adult themed.

Yellowjackets - Unique and disturbing but definitely worthwhile.

Succession (up to season 3, episode 3) - this really is how excessively rich people probably are. Disgusting and intriguing at the same time.

65 - ugh. I want my time back.

Can you tell I've been home for a week after surgery?

Same. But for me, Us is most layered. I've read a bunch of articles about the meanings of each one, but it's Us that's got me still thinking.

Why the dislike?
I found all the characters, actors, dialogue, script, just unappealing.

I didn't enjoy any of the horror stuff and when it was just a family vacation, I didn't want to spend time with this family or their even worse friends.

I have really liked Lupita Nyong'o in other stuff, just not this.

The only thing I enjoyed about the movie was the use of Le Fleur by Minnie Riperton at the end. Probably the most underrated singer/music superstar of all time.

Fair enough. I thought the slightly dysfunctional dynamic of both Nyong'o's family and her friends' family came off well. I think the horror stuff didn't hit as well as Get Out because it wasn't as focused. In trying to make multiple social allegories, Peele's attention to the horror plot itself in this particular story became diluted. Still, the twist ending made me question everything that came before and also created some plot holes but Peele has said before that his creations are intended to be interpreted differently by everyone.

I'm finding Peele's movies to be creepy and suspenseful, but outright scary? No, they're not. But they're still good.

You think Peele may end up going the M.Night route? Great start but with each movie just becomes the same thing?

Anyone watch Quasi? Its the latest Broken Lizard movie. Came out 4/20. I liked it sorta reminded me of Monty Python. Doesnt top the earlier movies though.

I loved 4/5 of the first episodes....and then it became Star Trek: Member Berries. About 3-4 people agree with me on the Entertainment section where I've been very vocal on calling it out, and many others (some from here) think I'm a grouch.

I grew up with Chris Claremont (X-Men), James Cameron, and Nicholas Meyer (directed ST II and VI and wrote half of ST IV) as some of my favorite storytellers, so I'm all about progression instead of retread. The TOS movies loosely referenced events but never became Member Berries. The weirder the X-Men got in the late 80s/early 90s, that's my favorite era of how to do a team and keep characters doing new things/not always being together.

It's also kind of a slap in the face/waste of time because it basically soft retconned everything from after All Good Things. People say it was supposed to be a nostalgia show/victory lap/etc.....but why not have them do new stuff?

So now that this season is over and I still have Paramount Plus for a few months, onto Beavis and Butt-Head. I heard season one and the movie were pretty good. Season II just started.

Back to that hip hop show Dave as Season III just started. I don't love it but it's a decent summer watch.

At some point I'd love to watch The Orville Season Three.

I'll probably watch the last episode of The Flash. I tried to get back into it this season.....just painful.

M. Night can still do a decent movie. Old was ok. My problem was I absolutely hated the casting/characters. Couldn't really root for anyone other than the nurse dude.

Loved Super Troopers and Beer Fest. Slammin Salmon and Super Troopers 2 were both decent. Their career has been very strange. It's almost like they got no press after Beer Fest. It's a Hulu film which sucks, not subscribing to it just for one movie and/or show.

I haven't seen Succession but, having worked at a golf club, I can confirm that many of the excessively wealthy are essentially less charming versions of the Bluths from Arrested Development

Almost done with Money Heist. 5 episodes left, have binged all 5 seasons over the past ~3 weeks.

I've watched a bunch of foreign series on Netflix in the past 6 months....Dark, 1899, Physical 100, Alice in Borderlands, obviously Squid Game when that came out, now Money Heist. Any other recommendations?

Alice in Borderlands I've heard is pretty similar to Squid Game. Did you like it?
