The Robertsson cut stood out as being early, but not by a lot. Can be a bunch of things behind these things. Some small injury, they are common in preseason. You build up the body as much as you can during a short period of time, then gear up your skating. Groins and what not don’t always keep up. It can also be that we didn’t think that Robertsson’s off season was perfect.

I remember how Cally was a really early cut hit rookie year, scored a ton in the AHL and was one of the first one up.

The Rangers are going to Rhode Island after the game tonight. Gallant wants the last two preseason games to be a dress rehearsal for the season. The Rangers will make more cuts soon. Would it have really hurt them to give Robertson a 2nd game? No.

The last two spots on D will be Jones and Hajek.

Would it have hurt? No of course not. But he's a kid he has a lot of time on his side. This is a good spot to be in. Jones is very skilled. They're the same age. But Jones puts up points everywhere goes. And so far in their pro careers Jones is better at his strengths than Robertson is at his. I think the start in Hartford will help Robertson. Get big minutes there work on his defensive game. I think Jones getting his shot with the Rangers is a very good thing. We should be happy about this. I think it's a positive all around. The Rangers have a history of making good decisions with defensemen. And if Robertson is the real deal he'll either force his way onto the roster or he will get moved for another need. Not all these kids will play in NY. Jones gets his shot to stick. If he fails then Robertson gets his shot. I'm more concerned with forwards right now. Hoping they make the right decision with the 4th line keeping Rydahl and Vesey. And getting Laf and Kakko more 5v5 and special teams ice time.

Is Lauri Pajuniemi hurt? He is still on the training camp roster and he has not played one preseason game. Did he finish last season with an injury and he is not ready for the start of this season? He will be on the Rangers cap. A portion of his cap hit will on the cap until he is ready to play. The Rangers had this situation with Joe Barnes. He had a concussion from the previous season with Carolina. I remember CapGeek had him on the IR. Barnes appeared on IR when the NHL released their rosters.

If he’s not injured he should get the last two games playing with Kreider and Zibanejad.
Might as well see what his ceiling is by playing with talented players.

Typically, that ain't what the final 2 NHL preseason games are for,
Certainly would contradict what Turk has been saying
his window for preseason NHL icetime has likely passed for 2022

I guess he was never really in the running. It’s a 2 horse race. He needs more work in HFD.

Unfortunately I think it says a lot about how they feel about Robertson as well. The other two players are very undersized, and you know they'd love to have a bigger guy like Robertson back there. They just don't have him even near the same level as Hajek/Jones.

I don’t think they are necessary down on him, just that he isn’t ready. He was a bit inconsistent in the AHL, i think he makes some strong strides down there this season and will get some NHL games eventually this season.

Very true. He's only 21...super young. Usually bigger guys take a little bit longer to come around, especially on D.

I think he plays kid line together until they or no longer effective are until another line needs some spark

Goodrow’s offense completely dried up by Jan last year and never came back.
