God please dont put Goodrow on the top line. MUCH rather Blais on that line.

Goodrow’s offense completely dried up by Jan last year and never came back.

Not actually true. At the 41 game mark (the halfway point of the season) Goodrow had 7 goals and 10 assists in 38 games. He finished the regular season with 13 goals and 20 assists so 6 goals and 10 assists in the second half or pretty much almost identical production in the first and second half of the season. Jesper Fast who the Rangers often put up on the top two lines produced those kinds of numbers and IMO Barclay is a better player.

Tbh I like Goodrow with Zibs and Kreider. Can be the matchup line.

Panarin and Kid line will lead the team offensively at even strength.

I still don’t get why Brodz doesn’t get any love. We have all the makings of a strong 4th line

Goodrow on the top line is fine for now. The Kid line stays together, Vesey gets a contract. Kravstov glued to Panarin. So then it's slotting Blais/Reaves/Goodrow/Vesey around with one of Hunt/Carpenter/Rhydal/Gauthier.

My money is it's Carpenter and the other guys all get put on waivers.

There will be injuries, waiver wire claims, maybe even project swaps (Gauthier for a D version of him).

This team could actually use Patrick Kane for a playoff run lol.

So we found out that none of Cullye/Edstrom/Othmann are quite ready. That's fine, it's not a disaster. They're actually following the paths of normal prospects pre 2012-13 lockout.
I would love to have Patrick Kane but not at the expense of one of our firsts.

You wouldn’t trade our 1st for Kane? Seriously?

I see Carp and Vesey making this team. Rhydal is sent down bc he can be.

Hunt is the odd man out.
I absolutely would not. I might have if we hadn’t already burned our first last year.

This draft is too good. I would love to have Kane. Maybe he takes a cheap one year deal to come here in the offseason to give it a Cup run like Teemu Selanne did with Colorado back in the day.

You wouldn’t trade say, 26th overall in this draft for Patrick Kane? That’s nuts.

I don’t think he will go that route. I think if things break Chicago’s way in the lottery, he could very well end up back there. He wants all those Blackhawk scoring records. He doesn’t want to leave.

Toews on the other hand looks like a POW.

If he doesn’t want to leave then he’s probably not getting traded anyway.

But no, this draft is strong enough that we have an elevated chance of finding a legit long term forward or center at 26. Not giving it up for a 34 year old.

He’ll go at the deadline.

That’s wild. If this group does what they should this season, and Kane would come here, you explore it.

I’m not trying to sound like an ass but people act like this guy still isn’t an MVP level player. He is. Hes the best American player ever. He’d come here and be a PPG guy, at least.

And for him being 34, watch. He’s going to be putting up numbers until he’s 40. He’s not close to done.

Ive been beating the drum for Johnny brodz. He has played well when given the opportunity, and hes speedy which is a rarity in our forward group.

Im not crazy about Goodrow on the top line, but if it works, it really balances the lineup.

I would say him being a net positive on that line is unlikely, but stranger things have happened.

Kreider - Mika - Goodrow
Panarin - Trochek - Krav
Laf - Chytil - Kakko
Vesey - Rydahl - Blais

Goodrow isn’t a bad fit there per se. I like him better than Blais.

Well then I'm happy to sign him in the offseason if he's affordable and wants to be here so bad. This won't be our last crack at the Cup.

Our long term sustainability depends on landing some more young forwards in this loaded draft. I'm not parting with those picks under almost any circumstance, that being, I was getting a young center back for one of them, like Wyatt Johnston, which won't happen.

Agreed, if you reframe the Mika line as the matchup/shutdown/even third line, it really is a nice balanced lineup. Would go with the same lines as above, just reordered:

Panarin-Trochek-Krav
Laf-Chytil-Kakko
Kreider-Mika-Goodrow
Vesey-Rydahl-Blais
Reeves

Send Carpenter and Hunt to AHL and hope they make it through waivers

Sammy Blais has suffered a bunch of injuries in his rather short career. But if you look at his two best years he prorates to about a 30 point season. Goodrow as a 4th liner on a Cup winning team was a 20 point player. With the Rangers last year moving between the 2nd and 4th lines he put up 33. Whether the Rangers think there is more potential for offense from Blais it still remains to be seen....and he hasn't played for a while. He well might need to be eased back in.

So Goodrow could be an option. Mind you Jesper Fast is a good player. I just think Goodrow brings more. Bigger, stronger, faster, meaner, more aggressive, hits harder....more leadership qualities. Fast spent considerable time here in top 6 deployment....kind of the defensive conscience of whatever scoring line he was on. Even if he wasn't great offensively there was enough production ability there to keep opponents honest.....and that's basically how I would see Goodrow fitting in if the Rangers moved him into the top 6 keeping in mind that I don't see that as a permanent solution.

There's pros to keeping Chytil, Kakko, Lafreniere together....there's also a few cons. Also lines get broken up again when things aren't going as well as hoped.
