missed the boat with Ned

I think they are looking for someone with more experience in the NHL and someone who has been a starter before incase Campbell struggles and needs to take over, while not wanting to break the bank on a 1b goalie.

Thinking on the lines of: Andersen, Rittch, Jones, Grubauer(will get paid so very doubtful), Raatana, Mrazek, Ullmark.

Raanta, Ullmark and Mrazek seem like great fits. Mrazek will probably re-sign with the Canes after they lost Ned though.

Grubauer will get a big contract I think. Jones is kinda meh, but would be ok as a 3rd stringer maybe?

Halak would be an underrated signing. Always so damn consistent... but he's up there in age.

You are 100% right but what is fun about losing 5 straight first round series, no playoff series wins since 2003 and no cups since 1967? Trust me I am not alone in this boat and if you are not today, I guarantee you will be soon enough.

I’ve been a Leafs fan all my life (earliest memories are 1970 when I was 9) but to be honest I’ve never let what happens to the Leafs have much of an impact on my life. I would love to see them win a Cup, just like I loved to see the Jays win 2 World Series and to a lessser extent, the Raptors win a NBA championship. But if they don’t, they don’t.

And of course, I’m always disappointed when a team I cheer for is eliminated. But I adjust and put the energy I would have put into that team into other things. And that disappointment usually passes in a day or two at the most, I just have never seen any reason to get overly upset about it.

I’m always curious about fans who do seem to over react to the performance of teams they cheer for. It seems that for some reason, these fans have the performance of “their” teams a major part of their identity. And I just don’t get it. It’s not like they or anyone close to them did anything. Picking a team to cheer for and that team winning is not an accomplishment.

We are going to end up with Mikael Granlund and Andersen

It will be a very Dubas move. Bringing back a player that hasn't worked and smallish player that doesn't do anything really well but has high IQ

Agreed, one of three you mentioned seems like it would be a good fit, add in Bernier as well if he doesn't resign in Carolina now. He has played very well on a very bad Detroit team. And I don't think any of the four goalies mentioned above will make over 3m.

I know the Leafs have been connected trading for Kuemper, but unless salary is retained 4.5m is too rich for a team who need to fill 2 left wing spots on limited cap, and even then, wasting prospects/picks for him to walk in FA would seem like a waste.

Yeah wouldn't mind Khaira. As a brown boy myself, I need another brown boy presence on the team after Kadri Left

Please don't bring race into this. If this were basketball, and I said the same thing about needing more white players, how's that sound?

I will call it now. Khaira will be a Maple Leafs, or at the very least we will be among the favourites to sign him.
Can someone tell me, with some statistical evidence, why Khaira is any good? Please don’t reference Zone Starts.

I don't have numbers to offer but from my viewings, he's a fine bottom line center. Seems like a capable player to me.

He took face-offs then played wing.
This is exactly right. Boyd played centre as soon as Spezza took the faceoffs. After Boyd went to the Nucks, Brooks was brought up to take his place and take all the defensive responsibilities of centre, other than FOs. I remember talk that Leaf management assured Spezza he would not have to take those defensive responsibilities as all that skating would grind a near 40 year old right into the ice.

As an Oilers fan, he is a 4th line center who is a streaky player. Some days he looks like a third liner and other days a healthy scratch.

If you are signing him, he can bring physicality and PK ability. Do not expect him to score.

His only job on the PK was to take the face-off. If he won the draw, they'd ice the puck and he'd come right off. If he lost, he was trapped, but still came off as soon as possible.

That's right and that's pretty much what we need. Center depth and a capable player to play a defensive/physical depth role.

Brooks is a good depth center that can score here and there. So Khaira would give us another element for cheap.

Who is that handsome man in your profile picture?

That guy had a tough year last year, especially fighting.
He's a strong guy with some guts but has no clue how to actually defend himself in a fight. He got his lights switched off in a brutal way.

Concussions like that can be the beginning of the end. He has blind confidence when it comes to fighting which will get him into trouble more than once.
