Mark Hunter the guy who should have gotten the job in the first place!I do agree with that since it was only caused by a shorthanded forecheck

Not worth it to respondMark Hunter the guy who should have gotten the job in the first place!
They're in a late career Mats Sundin Leafs era now imo. Not bad enough to get Bedard types, not good enough to make the playoffs. It's a bad comboA strong blue line and goaltending will keep them in games.
I agree they'll probably be closer to a playoff spot than some thing. They get overlooked because they had such an awful start to last season.
The Leafs D-corps is very strong as of right now. Replacing Muzzin with Sandin for a full season might be less playoff ready but it’s a better bet long term. Gio was phenomenal last year and he can play 2LD with any of the Leafs RD: Brodie, Liljegren, Holl. That would make our D less playoff prepared. Murray is sweating enough I'm sure.
Unless you include moving a core player our offence is 34, 16, 88, 91. Thats it, next up is Engvall at 2.2M after Kerf goes to make cap.
I think the Islanders won't make the playoffs but I also think you're correct the GF will increase.Yeah fair enough.. and possibly im being too oprimistic with them but i do think they are going to surprise some this year
There certainly is a weird obsession for some, I could see if they were rivals but......Kind of funny, but Islanders are living rent free in some people's heads.
Obsession is a good word. I'd think we have better things to fret about like our goaltending for example. There certainly is a weird obsession for some, I could see if they were rivals but......
I think we can chalk it up to a coping mechanism.

Personally i have always kinda liked them.. love pelech and watched them alot the past few years. Cheered for them against tampa.. always had a soft spot i guessThere certainly is a weird obsession for some, I could see if they were rivals but......

They achieved more than the sum of their parts the last few years. There are some players on their D, that you'd love to have on our D core Pelech and Mayfield for example, would be nice compliments on our team. It is funny, how people want ex-Leafs to fail so often though.
That is a great deal/value. 21 goals on a jets team that hated each otherStastny just signed with the Canes for 1.5 x 1. Seems like a great deal for the Canes.

Would have done thatStastny just signed with the Canes for 1.5 x 1. Seems like a great deal for the Canes.
Would still very much like to see ZAR or Motte pickup up to flank NAK on that 4th line. I really like the idea of deploying some fast, tenacious forecheckers that will cause some havoc.
The only downside is that the Leafs can probably use offense (i.e. Milano) more than someone like them. You would have to be really sold on their defense and ability to play on that shutdown line so that Engvall can play on the Jarnkrok line.
I don't know if he was open to playing in Toronto or not, but I would have offered him that contract all day long.Stastny just signed with the Canes for 1.5 x 1. Seems like a great deal for the Canes.

As would I have. He was someone, along with Rodrigues I had suggested signing, after moving on from Kerfoot.Would have done that
Rodrigues would be a perfect fit for 2C on the Avs. I'm surprised that deal didn't get done the moment Kadri signed. There will likely be some kind of performance bonus attached, but the base seems about right.
Colorado is going to need to hurry up and find some guys who can help replace Kadri though, or else they may need to turn to us for Kerfoot.
Kessel, Rodrigues, and Milano are still out there.
