I don't think that's a real thing, if a team wants a player A or B, they will trade with them instead of risking of them getting traded to another team.

Holl or Kerfoot may not have as much value as people think, I can see them going for a 3rd to 6th round picks, but they are everyday NHL players, that's for sure.
Yeah, I'm with you on that. I never understood that thought process.

A players value is based on demand, not how much you need to sell.

The real difference is Tampa can afford Vasilevskiy in net.
..... don't forget Money Mitch... for the 2nd straight game 6 elimination playoff game, the gwg came off a play Mitch made or didn't make I should say. Both plays didn't need to happen and were "extra" and not the simple play. Oh and he had 0 shots in 24 minutes of ice time in game 7. Though Dekes will inform you that 0 shots isn't a concern at all. If everyone had Mitch Marner standards we'd get ourshot 40-0 and I guess Dekes would say we were close.

So your solution, is a guy who doesn't want to coach next year?
I think he is staying unemployed on purpose to be available to take the TOR job. Keefe should never have survived that handshake nonsense if not for his best pal in the GM seat. IMO

Trotz would change this team because I believe it makes a greater impact on a team to bring in a proven Cup winning coach that knows how to get playoff results than continuing to blame the bargain basement shopped goalies and think they can out-duel the best goalies in the game behind an inexperienced coach who keeps getting outcoached.

Resumes
Trotz ... 2018 (Stanley Cup) .. 2019 thru 2022 (3 seasons) 8 X playoff SERIES wins including 2 X final 4 appearances.
Keefe .. 2018 (Calder Cup) .... 2019 thru 2022 (3 seasons) 8 X playoff GAMES wins including 0 X round #2 appearances.

This seems like a captain obvious choice, that every Leaf fans should be onboard with because it has Zero Salary Cap consequences, and if you're willing to put your faith in a goalie coming off the scrap heath because he won a Cup 6 years ago, Changing the goalie changes 1 position, changing the coach changes every position unilaterally.

What is the worst that can happen here, Leafs lose in round #1?

I really don't get Leaf fans that honestly believe Campbell, Spezza, Mikheyev, Kase Out and Murray, Gaudette, Aube-Kubel, Jarnkrok IN via trades and free agency is the missing pieces keeping Leafs from the Cup. :shakehead

Is Kessel retiring?

He had 50ish pts this year on a shitty Zona team

I think he can provide kerfoot level offense at minimum with JT and 88

I really hope a reunion is in the works with us and him

He also let's us go back to two PP units in case PP1 struggles ever or can be a Spezza like threat on PP2

Kessel is 34, he also just had a kid I think, he is probably looking for a retirement contract (something like Giroux). I am not sure which team has that kinda cap space though

Potential candidates: (pic below)
Avs/Isles/Wild/Jets can afford him only if they move some space. Also I doubt Kessel wants to play for the Jets.

That leaves Sabres, Yotes, Stars (may be), Ducks (they will have their RFAs to pay soon), Wings. Hawks are rebuilding so unless they sign him and then trade him with 50% retained for a picks/prospects not sure. Sens is interesting; dont think Kessel would wanna play for Ottawa at this time of his career.

Im not quite sure what you mean here. Are you attributing the GWG in Game 7 v. MTL and Game 6 v. TB to Mitch misplays? Or the Game 6 goals in each series then the game 7 is each series?

Everything undesirable is attribute to Marner, of course. GWGs in every game in every series. Whether he was on the ice or not. I think he also caused global warming.

I get some of the criticism, that Game 7 turnover was completely unanecessary and id like a harder play by him on the boards in Game 6 OT this year

There's always moments of criticism for every player, but overall, a good series.

Outcomes also tend to make otherwise common, mundane moments memorable. I wonder if people remember Tampa dumping the puck out of their zone to an attacking player about 40 seconds before Marner did it...

Agreed on the last point and the result dictating many of the narratives.

Ive wondered a few times how Vasi would be considered in this series if the 2 phantom calls in the third period of Game 6 dont happen.

The first one was bad

But let's not pretend that shoving your stick into a guys throat for 15 seconds isn't an obvious call

Just want the season to start at this point. Don't care about dubas or any of the coaches or management. If the team fails this year get rid of all of them.

Yeah, I'm with you on that. I never understood that thought process.

A players value is based on demand, not how much you need to sell.
In todays NHL, you will never see a entire league look at team A and say "we won't trade with you to make you non cap compliant".

At the end of the day when Sandin signs an extension, there's going to be teams interested in both Kerfoot and Holl, and I am sure teams wont risk not getting the player because they want to hold a gun to Torontos head.

I notice you skipped his first like 16 years.....

But the second penalty never happens if the first call isn't made. Having said that, good teams overcome.

Let's say the vast majority of you on this board get their way and Dubas is let go. Honest question. Who may be available that would be an exciting replacement? Trotz could easily step in as coach, but the GM?

Assuming we sign Sandin, would Anaheim make any sense for Muzzin? They currently have $18M in cap space and they really only have Fowler and Vaakanainen on the left with Drysdale /Shattenkirk /Klingberg on the right.

Not sure what we would need back to make it happen but it would depend if Muzzin wanted to go back to California as well.

Their deals keep disappearing as they need to re sign key players

They arent hampered when it comes to their youngs guys and space needed
The problem is that their young players aren't good enough to offset the lack of offense and speed from most of the roster. Barzal and Dobson are awesome, but the rest of it falls apart pretty quickly once guys like Lee/Bailey/Nelson lose a step.

Well in particular palmieri bailey and a couple others fall off with hopefully bellows wahlstrom raty coming in

Or they have money for new free agents

Their flexibility is nicely off set

I've been proposing Henrique for Muzzin all off-season. The contracts basically offset but the Leafs get a top 6 C/W while Anaheim gets a top 4 LD to play with Drysdale or Helleson. The Leafs then get to insert Sandin. Henrique for Muzzin+Kerfoot makes sense too where Kerfoot takes Henrique's spot in the lineup.
