What spot are the Coyotes ending up in this year?
They are currently the leading contender for the 4th OA pick.

There is no evidence he is considering leaving. We can get to that point if it happens but right now no need to be worried. If you want to shake up the team, Matthews is the last thing you look at.I have a nagging feeling he isn't re-signing in Toronto, I think his landing spot is Los Angeles. Not that it matters but he was born in Cali and it seems he likes show business people and you can't discount the way better weather. By the time his contract concludes the Kings are going to have a ton of room and if they don't Anaheim and/or San Jose will.
I love watching him score goals but for the player it's all about the name on the back and not really the crest on the front. I don't think there is a player in any pro sport that doesn't want to win but it's not necessarily the #1 priority for every player. It's only the fan that sees the crest and championships as the most important thing.
Quoting the Highlander when it comes to Hughes and Reilly, there could be only one.I see Quinn Hughes' name on the trade boards and seriously stopped to wonder if he might be a smart fit for Toronto. He's essentially the high IQ, LHD playmaking, PP QB defenseman that the Leafs seem to love drafting at high volume in mid rounds, but is actually the high end, real deal. Kind of like Mitch Marner from the blueline with a seeing eye shot.
Not sure what it would cost Toronto but with a Hughes, Rielly Top 2 that can be spread out on the specialty teams and top 2 pairings could then allow them to add less skill elements. I know the Dubas braintrust likes this style of player, so why not get the best one out there?
Okay but trading your franchise player doesn't solve that. Maybe you look at Marner or Nylander or even Rielly, but not Matthews.nor drunk, but there's a problem with the Leafs
maybe they're sick and tired of getting jobbed by the officials, maybe they're sick and tired of Keefe saying the same stuff over and over, maybe some of them have had it with getting snow tires...I mean who knows
but something's just not right

McDavid or nobodyWell the only reason you trade Matthews is if he clearly indicates he is leaving in UFA. And iIf you're trading Matthews you don't do it for a "quantity" package with minimal cost controlled assets and no blue chip prospects/picks coming back. That's how you stumble into complete mediocrity. It's really bad value.
Muzzin just hit LTIR that's 5.6 million we can use if he's not coming back
Matthews controls his destiny, his NMC kicks in July 1. The Leafs will have to know before then that he wont sign, but I imagine his camp will not give the Leafs any clue, so that he can control where he goes.
Theres no scenario where the Leafs will even come close to getting fair value. Will be even worse if Matthews has one team he's set on going to.
I want no part of Dubas dealing with Kekalainen again.I know Columbus is convinced that they should be a playoff team but once they fall out of the race I would love Jenner on the Leafs as 3C.
That's a Stanley cup defenceMurphy and Gavrikov are my top two choices for our backend. Both can skate and bring size and physicality on the backend. Ideal defensive pairings for me would be
Rielly - Murphy
Gavrikov - Liljegren
Giordano - Brodie

I’d love Jenner and Gavrikov from the Jackets. A package for those two however wouldn’t be cheap. Probably need to start with a 1st, Sandin and a solid prospect.I know Columbus is convinced that they should be a playoff team but once they fall out of the race I would love Jenner on the Leafs as 3C.
I wouldn’t assume they’ll fall out of the race.I know Columbus is convinced that they should be a playoff team but once they fall out of the race I would love Jenner on the Leafs as 3C.

Okay how about QUINTON BYFIELD, BRANDT CLARKE, Arthur Kaliyev, 1st 2 2nds and any other pieces to make cap work and contract spaceLA seems like a likely destination. They have a lot of prospects that would make sense too. Anyone want to take a crack at a 34 to LA package?

Odd comment - OEL has been the defenceman doing the covering and has sacrificed offence because of it. The interesting stats in vancouver are whatever defenceman plays with OEL over a decent sample size gets a bit better than without OELQuoting the Highlander when it comes to Hughes and Reilly, there could be only one.
Just look at OEL now, both Green and BB are finding it hard to fit both OEL and Hughes in the pairings as both need a RD who plays defence to cover for them. Plus they can’t use both of them on the PP at the same time.
Also any trades with the Nucks should start or end with Demko.
Have wanted him for yearsI know Columbus is convinced that they should be a playoff team but once they fall out of the race I would love Jenner on the Leafs as 3C.
The vancouver one is needing something else - a player added to the first for horvatLeafs - Canucks

I think i would do that one for matthews if it came to itOkay how about QUINTON BYFIELD, BRANDT CLARKE, Arthur Kaliyev, 1st 2 2nds and any other pieces to make cap work and contract space
Depends on that one team and whether they are currently competitive(ish). Trading for him would get him in their lineup a year earlier and open up the option for an 8th season. Plus they'd likely have to move decent cap out to fit him in.Matthews controls his destiny, his NMC kicks in July 1. The Leafs will have to know before then that he wont sign, but I imagine his camp will not give the Leafs any clue, so that he can control where he goes.
