I've been on the site long too. I dont think the forums started in 2002? Any idea who's the "oldest" member on the site?
Hockey's Future started in 1997, owned by the Taylor brothers (who eventually went into the porn industry, not joking) with Ken McKenna serving as Managing Editor. The forums started later that year, originally as a place to discuss HF content and prospects, but this was in an ancient, pre-vBulletin format that was more like a listserv than a web forum in appearance.

There are a few members still here that date from that early era, which is the source for "Dustin Rose" (not sure who started that one) and "Martin Skoula's Puck Poise" (that was definitely KL.) @Gee Wally , @SingnBluesOnBroadway , @Hossa , @Stephen , @Jumptheshark , @klingsor , @ULF_55 are a few examples but there are many more. Most of the members from that era have either grown out of it or been forced out, and if they were older folks in 1997 it is quite possible they have passed on to the great hockey forum in the sky by this point since that was over 27 years ago.

This site started before "All Your Base Are Belong To Us" which can be considered to be the very first meme (though we didn't call it a meme back then.) That's a long time.

EDIT: if you want a look at the forum's original format, here is the last archive snapshot before the vBulletin format was installed in February 2002: Link . Looking at my team's board, there are definitely a few posters I recognize (starting lurking in 2003 but didn't post until 2005) but many more that I don't recall communicating with.

I still remember reading the drop down format at my high school library pre 2002!

Looking at it, it looks like the wild west...they literally published your IP address after each post lol.

You're one of the few Leafs posters I recognize from that era. I see you, MacDaddy/TLC, ULF, Northern Dancer(I think he comes from back then), Frankie (he was quite the contrarian) but not a whole lot of other names I'm familiar with.

Don’t forget “The Messenger” who became “Mess.”

I'm curious about why LaGuardia. I would have guessed JFK or Newark would have been worse. Perhaps he simply hadn't flown into them.

I'm sure a lot of us could come up with an updated list.

He didn't like their ATCs or the way you have to land there IIRC. Also didn't like the quality of the food there (can attest)

End of 2 periods in St. Paul, MIN 3 - BOS 1. Hilary Knight got the Fleet on the scoreboard, but within 2 minutes Taylor Heise's 2nd tally of the game regained the 2-goal lead. 19-19 SOGs so far, but the Frost puck management has been their strength.

I’ve been here since 2002, but I believe I had started to look at the prospects lists (the teams rankings etc was so cool !) before that and look at the forum without posting. My english was not great back then and it took me several months to decide to finally create an account and post for the first time. I’ve never been too active, so people don’t know me but I always find my way back here after a few months etc.
