First off.... why does our bottom six need changing? Our 4th line has been pretty good so far. I can see wanting upgrades on the third line though.

Second, as far as our 3rd line is concerned, we should probably give guys like Anderson and Steeves a shot, to see if they can improve upon our results there, at least from a winger perspective...

The main need on the bottom six, would be a #3C, and while there are some interesting names being thrown out, none of them are current candidates for 3C..

While I agree about the 4th line being done, I'd like some more offense from the 3rd.though I'd agree about centre being the preferred area.

Overall I just think it'll be easier and cheaper to find a bit of offensive support on the trade market than it is to find other areas like a top four D man ect.

Objectively, there aren’t that many C’s out there, that would improve us, and might be available, as a potential 3C. I’m not even sure how cheap some of these names would be.

Also true. Which is why is be fine with adding in a winger if they could help drive that line offensively

Not a confirmed statement by anyone, just something I think will happen at the TDL deadline, like in free agency, GMS tend to sign players that will be bad later in their contracts, but don't care because that GM signing them won't be around then.

If Rielly is out for an extended period of time, should the leafs look into a deal for EK? It’s still a massive contract to take on. But he would significantly improve the PP and OT.

Not in a million years, you don't take on over 11M to improve an already good PP and help 3v3 OT which only happens in the regular season

In the last 2 weeks, I've become convinced that while a top 4 RD would be nice, our true #1 need is a top 6 LW.

Kerfoot is KILLING me blowing so many chances, every night he gets 3-4 great chances and has 0 5v5 goals in the last 19 games.

It numbs my mind to think he's on that line with unlimited leeway while Toronto continues to be one of the Actual Goals For teams in the league, and we've got Robertson sitting on the bench (or hell, try anyone...).

I know the need at forward is scoring but Dakota Joshua in Vancouver would be a smart target to play 4C and move Kampf up to 3C. Joshua was an analytics darling last year in 4th line minutes and he's top 20 in hits/60 the last 2 years (min 200mins played). He's signed through next season at 825k. This is all assuming Vancouver is willing to move off of anyone.

Moving Kampf up to 3C could allow the Leafs to dress Robertson as 3LW with Kampf covering the middle of the ice.

Philadelphia is free falling right now, wouldn’t be surprised to see them continue to struggle throughout the year and those who started the year off really hot start to cool down like they already have been.

Chychrun has been injured for like 6 months and just came back. I dunno about that one.

I wish Niemela was with the Marlies. What an opportunity he would have had.

I'd definitely be interested in Klingberg. I know people here aren't psyched about an offensive D, but he can log a lot of minutes, gets the puck up to our forwards, plays with pace, and would be a great option on the PP.

As for a top 6 winger...not 100% sure yet. Needs to be a clear upgrade on Kerfoot...which given his 4 goal, 26 point pace so far...shouldn't be an issue. Pat Kane is the swing for the fences guy, but I think someone will outbid us. I wonder if a larger deal with Anaheim could also include Silfverberg? There would need to be heft retention, so the price would be very high. We would also need to move out Engvall, which leaves that Holmberg line very vulnerable.

Klingberg is probably near the top of my list. It would require 50% retention but I don't think the Ducks would mind for a solid return.

We also have a good amount of Swedish players. Could be a good spot for him to thrive.

I wouldn’t mind Crouse either. But their cap hits aren’t a huge difference, Crouse is at 4.3 million while Konecny is at 5.5. 1.2 million difference.

We needed one or two dmen and a top 2 LWer before Rielly was hurt. I don't know how Dubas can plug so many holes without giving up another chunk of our future. If Rielly is out for weeks and not days, I hope they do not make a panic move.

Literally our top three defenceman are currently out. Any team in this situation would be hurting on the blueline. We still have 6 defenceman who have played a decent amount of NHL games in Liljegren, Giordano, Holl, Sandin, Benn and Mete.

I remember Nino Niederreiter being available in the offseason and wanting us to move Kerfoot + to get him, he would've been the perfect winger for 2LW
