I didn't say first rounder but of you're short on RD and need another guy who can play in your top 4 he's useful
I'm just basing it off what we've seen this year. Team like Edmonton could use a guy like that and it's definitely an upgrade on Ceci and Barrie.

Dubas has hit this deadline out of the park, has addressed every need so far. Top 6 player in ROR, Two bottom 6 players in Lafferty and Acciari making us harder to play against in the lower end of the lineup, and adding a top 4 d-man with term who can play in Toronto's system while being able to clear the front of net/stop the cycle.

I find Kerfoot more useful then Engvall, I don't think Toronto ships out a d-man like Holl who PKS for us on a nightly basis.

I wonder if Anaheim would be willing to retain 50% on Vatrano.

To Toronto: Frank Vatrano (50% retained)
To Anaheim: 2nd Rounder (From third team)
To Third Playoff Team: Alex Kerfoot

Bunting - Matthews - Marner
Jarnkrok - Tavares - Nylander
Engvall - O’Reilly - Vatrano
Lafferty - Kampf - Acciari

Minus Engvall it looks great

Pending another move I also don't see Holl being moved

It's a bit risky because you're an injury away from having Timmins in every game and if you're looking at Tampa/Boston in rounds 1 and 2, Timmins is pretty raw to be in that situation. I mean he could flourish but there's a big risk in him making a mistake at a key time.

Holl has his gaffes but he is a bit steadier defensively than Timmins right now. Keeping him gives the Leafs an incredible deep blue line 8 defenders deep.

Rielly-Brodie
Gio-Liljegren
Sandin-McCabe
Benn-Timmins

Also playoff hockey is physical and Timmins has had injury issues before, including this year. It might be nice to ease of his usage for this run (unless your forced to put him in regularly) and hope he can have a full healthy offseason to train.

Why TF are people making huge deals now?

6'2", and the 5th D on the second worst D.

Tampa played him 19 games out of 49 in the playoffs, and 1 game in 2 years of finals.

What a F'n waste that would be. He's a downgrade on Timmins FFS.

I don't think you understood my sarcasm

You also don't want to make too many changes. Not every player is going to click
I am comfortable with the state of the team right now

And as much as I'm happy to see Engvall/Kerfoot go, they do know the Leafs' PK system which has been fairly effective.

Acciari/Lafferty/ROR/McCabe will all start getting into that role but as you say, it will take some time for them to adjust to the Leafs' style.

I think we should keep Holl as a press box depth defenceman tbh. I don't like him, but the added insurance is nice.

But it's hard because we know Keefe will pull a Babcock-Marleau love affair.

I'd keep Engvall. I think he still has another gear and he's played well this year.
If we're choosing between him and Kerfoot then it's Engvall hands down for sure. He can at least snipe a goal here and there, he's got a deceptive shot and his length gives him good advantages in defensive battles.

Kerfoot is just there lol. Ideally you'd upgrade both but doesn't seem like we have the assets or cap for that right now.

I'm ok with it. He has a rare combo of speed and size, despite not enforcing it as much as he could. He's still noticeable with his reach and ability to protect the puck.

Plus with the new additions, there's plenty of physicality and tenacity that can compliment Engvall's game. Not everyone in the bottom 6 needs to be a bruiser.

You already knew errrrrthang sire. Nothing to add. A former coach or a staff worker or just in the sports in general? What type of food do you eat and consume? I try to do less man made and alkaline, but tend to slip on it often... of course. But the IQ is very high here... very high.

In many ways, Engvall and Kerfoot bring very similar things. Both are strong defensive players. Both put up similar offensive production (at least with Kerfoot's offence disappearing this year). Both can play all three forward positions. And, on the negative side, both are soft and prone to the occasional gaffe.

But watching the game, Engvall always appears far more visible. Part of that is his combination of speed and size/reach, but part of it is also that he's also inconsistent. Kerfoot is what he is, night-in and night-out, whereas Engvall does have that extra gear, IMO. There is just no rhyme or reason as to when he decides to actually raise his game.

For those reasons, I think Engvall is the more valuable piece and the one we should strive to keep, but I also expect he'll bring back the bigger return.

Agree, I think Kerfoot will excel better in a top 6 role but he tried to do too much in a bottom 6 role.
Where as Engvall is one of those bottom 6 that can give you a goal here and there, solid in defence, PK and got good reach to disrupt plays.

Yeah he can be so much more valuable and richer if he can develop some snarl and grit.

Im actually surprised the Blackhawks didn't push for McMann over Joey Anderson.

Anderson is going to amount to nothing. McMann seems more of a difference-maker in the NHL. Not to mention, he's feistier too

Im glad we kept McMann. I see a future for him on the leafs moving forward

They are both going to amount to nothing

IMO, if the decision is between keeping Kerfoot or Engvall...much to the chagrin of Teeder, I keep the gentle giraffe.
Yeah Im keeping Engvall over Kerfoot too. Engvall has more of the scoring touch that we need from the bottom 6. Just sucks that he plays softer than Nylon tissue but its like beating a dead horse at this point

All of the intangibles that Kerfoot was known for, got upgraded with Lafferty in the fold now

I flip flop on Engvall or Kerfoot because they are so up and down in value to me but I think Kerfoots motor and recent playoff performances is a better bet than Engvall. But Engvall can really get hot and his shot can be deadly. His huge reach and stick checking is really underrated to go along with a strong skater.

They both have pro's and con's.
