I heard next year's draft is really strong.

Nan, I said before this is the last year I’m on the tank train. A top pick this year + CAL 1st, Demidov coming, Reinbacher/Beck/Kapanen/Hage/Fowler/Tuch/Xhekaj and more in the pipeline, and I think we’re good for take off.

Now if the team starts is still shit next year oh well what can you do, you’ll see me in the tank thread no doubt.

In an interview a while ago Hugues said normally you first build your D then your C line then your wingers. It's crazy how they tought they did that (and almost convinced us) but it's kind of crumbling away.

We've been lacking C for 30 years but I think the D core needs more help soon, with the time it takes to develop. Next season is again gonna be the same thing, even with Demidov. At this point I don't think it's on MSL but on HuGo.

Suzuki is certainly playing injured to not break his ironman streak but he must also be mentally tired of having to drag the entire team with only Caufield playing at a top 6 level. This summer would be a good timing to win the #1 or #2 pick.

I don't want to tank but the D is gonna kill us again next year.

Heineman, then Guhle.

Yeah i know that and for sure that's gonna hurt the team. However to be playing like an entirely different team because of those 2 injuries is insane.

Everyone looks like shit compared to a month ago. Literally everyone.

When Heineman gonna come back:

Losing a rookie bottom6 player and a single dman shouldn’t collapse a team. We’re just seeing what happens when a roster doesn’t have sufficient depth of good players. Doesn’t help that not one of our three “tank picks” are contributing right now.

Maybe next year we’ll be able to rely on at least one of Slaf, Reino, or Demidov.

The key issue is that This Team still never has the puck and gets outshot every game. Then in the Dzone it is everyone for himself. Regarding the System, we can argue if it is good or Bad but what is puzzling to me is that MSL has been here during 3 years and waited 2 years to implement it, seems like time lost.

The other key issue is that the 2nd line of reclamation projects is not working out as they thought it would.

I was not expecting playoff but progress and good games, I don t really see progress and that is the worrying Part to me.

Only defensemen scored tonight.

Hutson got a point and Mailloux scored.

Another back-to-back this weekend, lol

Props to Newhook on a great game though.
Kings playing well at home. Habs second game of back to back. Without Guhle we .500 team at best. Loss is good for the draft.

lets just hope they don't do to Suzuki what they did to Price for ten years which was surround a thoroughbred with a bunch of donkeys,I for one am fed up of the reclamation projects :deadhorse

The first 2 minutes of the game were something else. 8 shots in total by the Kings.
Just some quick observations.

The team looked tired and were outplayed and outskated most of the game. Dobes made some excellent saves but couldn't make the timely saves - letting in goals just after we cut the Kings' lead to one goal.

I thought that Newhook was one our our best forwards as he showed his superior skating that allowed him to create multiple chances. Newhook had several one-timer opportunities that could easily have been goals.

Beck again had a strong game. As he gains confidence, Beck is starting to use his skating and tonight beat several Kings' defencemen wide with the puck and had several good scoring chances. I can't see Montreal sending Beck back to Laval as he is showing that he can play, and play well, at the NHL level.

Sukuzi looks tired and played that way. There was little jump in his game and he was again hopeless in the face-off circle, particularly on the power play. And if Suzuki is not going, then our top line becomes largely ineffective.

Whether it is because he's stating to wear down or the league has now learned how to contain Hutson, or a combination of both, this fine young defenceman is no longer the force he was earlier in the season when he was able on some nights to dictate the outcome of games. Tonight, Hutson was largely ineffective and that ineffectiveness was manifest on the Canadiens' pathetic powerplay.

After multiple miscues in the early part of the game, Xhekaj settled down and played a steady, physical game in the defensive zone.

I also thought Gallagher had one of his better games and showed surprising quickness with puck as he challenged and, on occasion, beat Kings' defencemen to the net.

Though he had an uneven game, I thought that Anderson had his moments where he used his great speed both in attacking the opponents net with the puck and on the forecheck.

Savard was generally steady, but unnervingly slow tonight. Never the swiftest of skaters, Savard, over the last few games, has looked increasingly sluggish in his mobility and I suspect other teams who may be interested in possibly acquiring this veteran defenceman have also noticed this which I fear may have reduced Savard's trade value.

Mailloux had a fair game, he limited his defensive errors, played Kings' forwards hard on the boards, made provident pinches at the offensive blueline, used his excellent passing to spring teammates free and displayed his offensive vision and NHL level shot which allowed him to score Montreal's only 'clean' goal. But Mailloux's limitations in skating with the puck were obvious as he rarely, if ever, was able to transport the puck once out of the defensive zone with control.

Laine and Dach both had poor games and I will leave it at that.

All in all it was a hard game to watch as this team usually plays an entertaining style, win or lose. There was little entertainment tonight.

The team D clearly can’t compete unless everyone is healthy. The team hasn’t won many games without Guhle for years, when he is out other guys have to take minutes they can’t handle and it snowballs, Hutson looks worse, Savard looks slow.

They are rebuilding. They can win against anybody when the whole team is healthy and ready. A couple guys out and a couple of guys limping and anybody can beat them.
