None of the Brannstrom fans can, or will, answer to this. This offensive dynamo has 2 points on a team sitting at 15th in GF, with an xGF in the top 5 of the league. At what point do we stop talking about what he could do and start talking about what he is doing.
I suppose this is directed partially at me?
Four things I'd say, in no particular order. First, he's been generating chances off the rush, and it's not his fault when a forward doesn't finishes. Second, one of his best attributes is his ability to play in the offensive zone with creative forwards. If you watch the games, you can see the possession and zone time that comes from having a guy like Brannstrom out there versus a chuck-it-to-the-corner type like Holden, Hamonic and increasingly Chabot. Third, he's mostly been taken off the powerplay, which is which is where he'd get a lot of his actual production. And fourth, you don't have to be an offensive "dynamo" to be a worthwhile player if your defensive game is solid. And so far this season, I think it has been.
It's hard to argue against stats (although one could point to sample size), but I watch all the games and this is what I'm seeing.
