What offense? He hasn't scored in 89 games, and over that period he only has 17 assists at even strength.
This is the most damning indictment of Brannstrom.

Not strong enough defensively and does not produce.

EDIT: he needs to be on a much better team. I like him but he doesn't do enough for us.

None of the Brannstrom fans can, or will, answer to this. This offensive dynamo has 2 points on a team sitting at 15th in GF, with an xGF in the top 5 of the league. At what point do we stop talking about what he could do and start talking about what he is doing.

Would they ever entice Kleven to leave UND early?
To do what exactly?

The numbers are right there to see. It’s not for us to answer to. His production is disappointing. Plain and simple

The error wasn’t even horrible. It happens all the time. It just ended in our net. While Kastelic did nothing in support
What was lost in all the finger pointing at Brannstrom is how terribly Holden played the situation, he's first on scene to provide Brannstrom an option, but let's Bastion sneak past him and get some free space to make that play happen, he might as well have not been there at all he was so badly abused. Both Kastelic and Brannstrom get caught chasing the puck instead of picking up the next threat

As an aside, I hadn't noticed earlier but Kastelic gave Brannstrom a wicked slash to the face in his failed attempt at preventing the goal with stick checking instead of picking up bodies.

Which chatter?

@Joeyjoejoe posted it was on 32 thoughts with Elliot and Jeff. Winnipeg and Vancouver have been reached out to as trade partners for a D. I don’t think the Jets are going to anything with how they’re playing right now so the pressure went up on Vancouver.

I don’t think we will make a trade. But it would be peak Sens stupidity to trade for a guy now to only cost us DeBrincat and Zub in the off-season.

Trading for a D at this point makes no sense unless they are trading for a legit D who is a sure fire too 4 S, on a legit playoff team. Playing in the Sens top 4 now doesn’t make you a top 4 D. We don’t need a placeholder.

Season is all but essentially lost. We don’t need anymore passable guys like Demelo and Co.

Need a legitimate top 4 D. Was the biggest need that was inexplicably ignored before the season started, and has been for the past 5 years.

I suppose this is directed partially at me?

Four things I'd say, in no particular order. First, he's been generating chances off the rush, and it's not his fault when a forward doesn't finishes. Second, one of his best attributes is his ability to play in the offensive zone with creative forwards. If you watch the games, you can see the possession and zone time that comes from having a guy like Brannstrom out there versus a chuck-it-to-the-corner type like Holden, Hamonic and increasingly Chabot. Third, he's mostly been taken off the powerplay, which is which is where he'd get a lot of his actual production. And fourth, you don't have to be an offensive "dynamo" to be a worthwhile player if your defensive game is solid. And so far this season, I think it has been.

It's hard to argue against stats (although one could point to sample size), but I watch all the games and this is what I'm seeing.

Woah you're throwing the towel already? You're not out until you have ~25 regulation losses by the deadline.

I'm really happy with how JBD has looked, with Zub back I am in no rush for a placeholder. If we can get a legit top pair guy sure but I agree, no placeholders like DeMelo.

Friedman on Hotstove or whatever 2nd intermission HNIC panel is called now:

Dorion would like to add a D, but won’t “do anything crazy.” Also, options limited by players that have NTC to Canadian cities.

JBD had a couple of errors in his last game which are not surprising for a rookie. One was a flubbed pass up the middle which was intercepted. The other was he got beaten to the outside by a speedy winger. Still I like what I have seen so far and expect him to improve as he gets more experience.

We still need a big, physical D man like Chara or Parayko or Pronger.
