Mouslon and Erat terrible idea's....but par for the course around here...falls in line with Zherdev, Lisin, Brassard type players whom we have acquired since I can remember.
I got a great idea....let's sign Richards, Gomez, Drury, Redden...we need more offense.
If I am Bruins or any other team for that matter I would just slap around McDonagh, Nash and run Hank.
GM for life has decided that 5 years of signing goons was enough...now, he is going the other way and recreating the Smurfs from the 80's but 85% of u have no idea who the smurfs are.
Pretty big difference between being a bust, and thinking he'll be a bust. If people thought he was going to be a power forward with a scoring touch, they thought wrong. He projects as a 3rd line energy forward who can hit, forecheck like mad, and chip in 15 goals per year.
I see no evidence Biggs can hit 15 goals on an NHL level, and the new system seems to be moving away from adding players who are pure forecheckers.
Relative to where Biggs was drafted in the first round (remember that the Rangers passed on him) it is reasonable that he had power forward expectations.
This team has had the same issue for two years, time to rectify it.

I don't care where he was drafted. I don't even know what a "pure forechecker" is.
He's not the first huge kid to get a slow start in the pro's, and he won't be the last.
Pure forecheckers:
No NHL caliber tool except ability to forecheck.
First you called horrendous MDZ trade for Orlov + Erat + pick or prospect. Now it's changed to essentially MDZ + mid level prospect for Molson + Orlov and your assessment remained unchanged. These are not my proposals but there is definitely a reasonable thinking behind both. What do you have in mind that others are missing?
Definitely more than one issue. No dynamic offensive presence on the blue line. Small down the middle. Lacking finishers. Painfully short on grit.
We need finish.
Everything else is just amplified due to the lack of it.
I want Biggs just so that we can give him the nickname of Biggie.
The Rangers are not one player that MDZ can net away from being anything special. We need big changes, I've finally come to terms with this. Starting with our goalie, Girardi, and maybe even Callahan. Pipe dream, so I have a feeling at least Hank and Callahan will be resigned cripple our cap space and continue to be mediocre at best. I doubt I see a cup contender till at least I'm well into my 30s (I'm 27 now). We haven't been able to come close to winning a cup with Lundqvist any year except the year he had probably one of the best goalie seasons ever an even then we needed 2 game 7s against the 7th and 8th seed and lost to the weakest SC finalist since the Oilers. Playing goalie in the NHL is about as easy, if not easier than playing QB in the NFL now. An elite goalie is no longer needed, IMO. Just a solid unspectacular guy that has the potential money an elite goalie gets go to get some sort of great players on offense and/or defense.
This team is probably 2 or 3 pieces away and chemistry/experience to be there.l
I kind of agree with what you're saying. I don't this team needs a "elite" goaltender they need elite forwards but we aren't that far off from being a cup contender as you think. This team is probably 2 or 3 pieces away and chemistry/experience to be there. Hagelin is a excellent player but on a cup contender he's a 3rd liner same as Callahan. When we buy out Richards we will need to replace him with someone more talented and like I said previously about stepan he's not a 1c he's just our 1c. On a lot of teams he's a 3c, this team lacks top end talent outside of Nash and I won't even get started on him because he's in the Carmelo Anthony mold of star player but will never win it all
