Erat & Orlov for MDZ, Pyatt & a mid-level prospect/pick

I like Orlov + good value for MDZ, but for me the question is whether Erat is better than Richards on a wing? If not, I'd look for a center in return so that Richards could be on a wing opposite Nash.

I like that Orlov can play the right side, and has a great shot. Other than that, he's kind of redundant.

I don't get that Gardinier hype. I think he is the same thing as Del Zotto. People also should not be asking for Biggs who is a bust.

I think the Leafs and the Rangers match up quite poorly.

I forgot that 20 year olds can bust .

Kid needs a change of scenery imo, Rangers can really use a guy like him.

I keep checking in to here and twitter expecting a DZ trade and get surprised each time there is no new info. Rarely has a trade felt this imminent so far from deadline.

As previously discussed, you can flip Del Zotto for a decent right handed Dman plus a 1st or 2nd round pick, and then flip that pick with a prospect to Buffalo for Moulson at the deadline. Or look to Calgary for a cheaper Cammalleri.

Moulson or Camma are perfect fits for this team. Both can play the left wing, are power play guys and strong finishers. The major issue becomes contract. Acquiring either and re-signing them would mean most certainly buying out Richards.

You also wouldn't want to lose Girardi or Callahan for this. That would make it a pointless move.

rangers arent one player from winning the cup. no need to trade another 1st round pick or picks for players soon to be UFA :help: stupid decision.. Rangers need to resign their own RFA and UFA before trading for other teams... Rangers should get young talent. kick the tires on Kane, someone that can be here now and in the future.. no more vets.. i see other teams playing young talent. ducks hawks kings, they are good teams... no need for another UFA vet. Rangers should have learned that last year :shakehead

What surprises me is that Matt Moulson is already 30. For some reason I thought he was in his mid-late 20s.

To say that any team is one player away from a cup is stupid. Games aren't won and lost on paper. You don't come to a point as a team and say "well, I guess we need one more guy to win a cup" the entire notion is stupid. You build the best team you can consistently on a year to year basis to give yourselves a shot in the crapshoot postseason. This isn't EA's NHL. And you shouldn't turn down an opportunity to improve the club on the logic that we are somehow, mathematically not guaranteed to win a cup with the player.

This overemphasis on people and teams as somehow mathematical models is a Keynesian-esque, Econometrics farce, and it needs to stop.

Moulson has been amongst the top 10 in the league in power play goals the last 4 years, and has far more Power play goals in the last 6 years than do Rick Nash, Brad Richards, or Ryan Callahan.

Gardiner is another similar player to McDonagh and Moore. Physically strong, great skater, offensive upside. Raw. I like him a lot.

The Rangers need to make sure they maximize this asset in MDZ. They need another young player close to or in the NHL, preferably a big forward.

I agree with RB, look to trade Girardi well before the deadline. Top pairing RD can return a lot. Look to add another 1st + good puck moving prospect. Restock.

Moulson? Good lord would that be a bad idea. Horrendous.

First you called horrendous MDZ trade for Orlov + Erat + pick or prospect. Now it's changed to essentially MDZ + mid level prospect for Molson + Orlov and your assessment remained unchanged. These are not my proposals but there is definitely a reasonable thinking behind both. What do you have in mind that others are missing?

I'd love to add Moulson but I wouldn't trade for him in season. See what he wants as a UFA.

No rentals.

Erat isn't the type of player the Rangers should be focusing on in return for Del Zotto. Not young enough or cheap enough.

Erat is a two way winger, periphery player. NYR need someone who can cut in from the left wing and score from the slot. It balanced out the forward lines. Our current left wingers are gunners.

HFBoards. Where 2 years is all it takes for a prospect to bust.

Biggs has not been good in the AHL and is probably at least two years away. I also think he is too enigmatic and inconsistent. I think he is another Jessiman.

Power forwards take longer to develop, but Biggs has not looked good so far.

Hmm, i have a trade idea for you bern.

Staal, Stepan, 2014-15-16 first and second round pick for Toews and Keith. Then we trade Toews, Keith, Kreider AND Hagelin for Malkin. After we get Malkin, we can trade Callahan and 2028 3rd rounder for Clowe and Jagr. Also, trade Girardi, Hank and 2018 1st rounder for Bertuzzi, Quincey and Abdelkader (who we move to LD). Then trade Zuccarello for a 5th in 2030 to replenish the prospect pool. Fill every other line in with AHLers and FA scrubs. Lines should look like this.

Clowe-Malkin-Jagr
Pyatt-Brassard-Kristo
Pouliot-Moore-Bertuzzi
Boyle-Miller-Dorsett

Bickel-McDonagh
Quincey-DZ
Abdelkader-Johnson

Talbot

Great team right guys?

:p::p::p:

Misrepresents me at so many levels...

The sorcerer's apprentice was not this inept!

You don't think playing with Tavares had helped that stat at all. I'm not sure how he's been since being moved to Buffalo tho

I just don't think Callahan will sign for less then David Clarkson did. This has also been previously suggested and makes a ton of logical sense.

Del Zotto to STL would have been perfect if they didn't acquire Bouwmeester, but now that ship has probably sailed.

If we can't afford to keep 'em, we should trade 'em --- but I want to see someone pay for the rental.

Zuccarello will be a group II with arbitration rights this summer. He will be one year away from group III if he signs a 1 year deal this summer.

Kreider will be a group II with arbitration rights this summer. He is 4 years away from group III.

Gaborik. How were the Rangers keeping Gaborik and Richards on the team with the cap set at $64.3M? The Rangers weren't going to re-sign Gaborik if they kept him. Amnesty Richards and keep Gaborik who then leaves as a free agent. Trade Gaborik for 3 assets and later amnesty Richards. It would have been very hard to keep Richards and Gaborik on the team and fill out the roster at the same time. Pay Stepan,McDonagh and Hagelin. They got 3 pieces back for Gaborik. Moore is a 22 year old D who has made DZ expendable. We discussed that last season but some people refused to believe it. The Rangers can move DZ for other asset(s). Brassard is inconsistent. The Rangers qualify him this summer at $3.7M. Re-sign him to a one-year deal. The Rangers will need his offense after Richards is an amnesty guy in June. Richards has 7 goals and Brassard has 5. Give me the younger guy on the short term contract. Dorsett is someone the Rangers should try to turn into a young roster player between now and deadline. A young forward on an ELC who can play on the third line. Bottom six player. Dorsett is signed for next season.

If the Rangers are going with 3 offensive lines and having Boyle and Moore on the 4th line, trade either Boyle or Moore. Teams always try to trade for players like Boyle or Moore at the deadline. The Rangers can get a 2nd back for one of them. Both them will be group IIIs this summer.

Stepan,Richards and Brassard. Boyle/Moore.

If Miller gets a recall in the future, put him in the middle. The guy goes to the AHL and plays at center. 1 goal,1 assists,+3 and #1 star. Someone needs to tell AV to play Miller at center. He keeps playing Miller on the wing and then says I'm not sure what type of player JT is. AV says Miller is a young guy with a lot of potential. He has 5 goals and 6 points in 4 AHL games this season playing at center.

Stepan. Put Richards back on the wing. Brassard. Miller. Boyle/Moore.

I heard Kyper discussing the Leafs blue line on Hockeycentral yesterday. He said the Leafs need 2 defensemen and those players aren't easy to get. The Rangers have talked to them about DZ and Gardiner came up. Dreger reported that. DZ and Girardi. The Rangers should move them.

The bold.
pair w/Kreider + Cally now, maybe Kristo later.

Pretty big difference between being a bust, and thinking he'll be a bust. If people thought he was going to be a power forward with a scoring touch, they thought wrong. He projects as a 3rd line energy forward who can hit, forecheck like mad, and chip in 15 goals per year.
