Your cynicism is not entirely unjustified, but we have seen that 8th seeds can win the cup, and NYR have not proven that they are a bad team yet this year.

This team is not the LA Kings.

15-14 in a weak division and conference.

Not sure what outside looking in means and when, but if we will be which i doubt then any of Girardi, Boyle, Zuc, Brassard, MDZ would be up for sale as well as the usuals, Pyatt and co.w

You said we have good depth, meanwhile we cant score a damn goal. Throwing a bunch of players together is not depth, sorry. Torts put Gaborik on the 4th line, depth? Or playing bad? Richards on the 4th line, depth or bad play? ok

Look, we have good depth. Two of Brass, Cally and Hags on a 3rd line. Boyle and Dorsett on the 4th. They all de facto put up good numbers.

Just admit that I am right.

Look, our bottom 6 has like 5 goals for the SEASON! Depth? Please wake up and see things for what they are, and that our bottom 6 is comical. All of this "depth" why are we at the bottom in goals? I thought AV was supposed to remove the shackles from our guys, I mean, that's what everybody kept telling me:sarcasm:

Girardi will probably be given the Roszival treatment. He'll be a little overpaid for lack of an alternative, the fanbase will continue to sour on him beyond reasonable levels, and he will eventually be traded for much less than we could get for him now.
Then see him help another team win a stanley cup.

I've never seen "de facto" so often in such a short period of time as when browsing this forum today

And not that it really matters, but I don't understand the Mash trade. I liked him. Maybe I just liked his name. These AHL moves seem so random sometimes, like someone got bored.

He's trying to say those are depth players and the team lacks the 1st/2nd line players to be a great team. Really not all that hard to figure out.

The team is slow and not built to play any sort of up tempo game. They need major changes and to re-allocate their cap spending. Spend too much on defensive dmen and there won't be enough for forwards. Pick one of Staal or Girardi.

MDZ needs to be moved for a forward and a High end prospect puck mover. Time for change.

It's time to dump more of this dead weight. Pyatt. Pouliot. Boyle. Guys who are one dimensional or too slow for this system and provide little to no offense at all. What's the point? Moore and Dorsett are good speedsters with some grit to their games. 2 is plenty.

What's the long term plan for Zuccarello? Does AV like him? Does he want him to be part of the long term plan in NY?

Brassard?

The team needs an overhaul.

It's not end of the world as a stop gap for this year; see a lot of good. Unfortunately, gives up toooooo much size, can't play D vs NHL size guys.

This weakness is minimized a bit when playing w/Kreider, and fact Hags on another line makes opposition skate is awesome and helpful.

Long term plan forward:
Miller is only C we have who can speed in tandem w/Kreider.

Accept the growing pains. Kreider-Miller- down the road, Kristo

With the right RW, I'd be interested in moving some of our other C for premium assets, and gambling short term w/Zuc in the pivot. He's got enough speed, and smooth skating and even smoother passing, looks like a good fit with Hags. But would need someone who can handle the RW.

Get the feeling if Zuc Centered, then playing D might be a little bit less about the body and more about stickchecking. Could be more effective. As a W, he has to yield to the boards, and that advantages bigger opposing Ws.

Until we can dump his sorry ass, Pouilot looked decent off W a few games with Hags.

Kreider -Miller -Cally (for now)
Hags - Zuc - Poo

Zuke has been producing, backchecks like a demon and doesn't backdown from anybody. Yes, he is small, but he has balls as big as his head.
I have no complaint about him.

people see hes small and just think hes bad defensively. hes probably been the best defensive top 6 forward on the team this year.

I agree he's not a bum like some of the others taking up space here.

I think the old adage in sports is usually right: the good big man beats the good little man.

That said, I'm happy for him to have a home here until we can upgrade his ass.

I'm not sure what exactly constitutes our bottom six, but we have 8 different forwards with at least 5 goals...

I did a quick search and I didn't see his name thrown around but how much would we need to add to work a deal around MDZ for Cam Fowler? The obvious reason is he gives us a real PP QB and I really think he'll be a special offensive d-man. What do you guys think?

There are only 4 teams in the league (out of 30) right now that have more regular time losses than the Rangers do. IMO that shows real flashes of mediocrity. Pretty bad, yeah

And yet, there are 11 teams in the Eastern conference alone that have as many total losses or more. That's a better indicator of postseason success. Rangers are 5th in wins in the East.

Overall, in the league when you consider the West, that's pretty mediocre. But mediocre might be enough to come out of the East this season.

Pyatt and Cess Pouliot are obviously our bottom 6. They haven't scored 5 goals in one game each once this year, so our bottom 6 sucks. We gotta be careful not to put words into these guys mouth... ;)

Anaheim has Fowler/Lovejoy,Lindholm/Fistric and Allen/Vatanen as their D. Injuries to Sbisa,Souray and Beauchemin. They keep humming along. Lovejoy and Vatanen are their righties. They are more than Getzlaf and Perry. They have Bonino and Cogliano. They have 14 goals combined. Both of them were acquired in trades. Bonino was a prospect acquired for Travis Moen. Cogliano was acquired for a 2nd rounder. Both of them are key role players. They have a really good team. Even the Swedish forward acquired in the Ryan trade is injured. Really good team.

The Rangers don't have to give Girardi more money or term than they want because he is right-handed. There are other players playing pro hockey. Other teams find them.

Anyone see Vancouver vs PHX?

Rundblad destroyed one of the Sedin-twins with a Kronwall-type of hit in the 1st. He leveled Booth too. He just sticks out as a very realistic and desirable pick-up for us. There aren't many options available for right shooting Ds with elite offensive ability. As it is now, he isn't better or worse than a John Moore. Maybe has a bit less consistency than J Moore. But he definitely has potential to become exactly what we need. His agility on the defensive side of the game is what is holding him back more than anything else, but he makes up for that somewhat in other areas. He is a good hitter.

MDZ is worth more than Rundblad. The advantage with the later is that he has much more PP ability, only makes 700k next season, and is a natural RD. Slats should be able to turn MDZ into Rundblad and a pick or two.
