Don't see it happening with the Islanders. Unless they are dangling some of their bigger prospects, Neilsen, Grabner, Okposo, and any of the other guys they'd want to trade would all be big passes from me.

I wonder how some people are just allowed to write whatever they want without any repurcussions.

This article literally makes zero sense. It makes sense for the Islanders to trade for Del Zotto because he would fit their puck possession system out? What about our puck possession system?!

We play a really similar game to the Islanders. What has Arthur Staple neglected watching us the entire season?

How about the blatantly obvious competitiveness between the teams? These teams HATED each other just 6-7 years ago. Now that the Isles are back to being competitive I don't even think it's a possibility that the two would trade core pieces in even a 12 team trade that involved both.

Really think the DZ trade days are over. I'm going to guess that DZ picks up his level of play the rest of the way. Perhaps even a return to that player we saw in his rookie campaign. And everyone loves him again.

We're no longer in the market for a high profile deal. It just doesn't make sense anymore. A week and a half ago/2 weeks ago, when none of us knew Nash's real condition, and how he'd react, it was very much a possibility. Not anymore.

We're either adding a seasoned vet, or a prospect will be called up midseason. We're missing 1 player. We're not opening up another hole so that we can help the Islanders for no reason whatsoever.

Isles could really use Del Zotto. Though I don't see us trading with them, under any circumstance.

I'd want Pulock and a good forward back.

You're right about the Islanders but the Rangers still need a top-6 LW who is a little selfish. Del Zotto is not going to magically turn the season around, especially given the depth issues and forcing him to play the weak side. AV shouldn't be doing anything to accommodate him either with the rest of the D playing well right for the most part. Del Zotto may remain solid enough defensively but he is being replaced offensively by others and that is where his value lies.

If this is how it's going to be with Michael in NY then they would be stupid not to trade him. I'm not worried about them plugging the hole he leaves because by all accounts it sounds like they are trying to move him for another D anyway. Methot was asked about in discussions with Ottawa according to the trade board thread.

Either way I doubt DZ makes his way off the trading block.

I love how Miller is developing by not playing... he should be playing on the Wolfpack.. stupid developmental path by the Rangers.. why not call up Powe or Haley to have them sit.. wasting Miller's development time is not a smart decision at all... i hope he gets traded if it is going to like this for the rest of the year for JT Miller. why bums like Pouliot continue to do nothing on the ice...

Sather loves him. Wouldn't give him up for ROR, even with the possibility that Richards wouldn't be back this season.

If he picks his play up, which if these 2 games are an indication he's heading that way, then it'll be awfully hard to ask for Del Zotto with a straight face. We'll be left to trade draft picks again.

Personally, I'd love Semin if the Hurricanes at 35% of his remaining contract. I don't even think that you'll need Del Zotto in those discussions, the Hurricanes will be happy to move him once they start tanking again.

We need someone with size. Camalleri and Setoguchi are too small.

Simmonds would be nice but Rangers and Flyers won't be dealing with each other any time soon.

Ott fits, but he's not really going to balance the 3rd line scoring woes.

Hard to find a large physical presence who can net you 20-25 goals a year.

This is actually an integral role of developing. I don't have a problem with it unless it continues past Pyatt's return, which it won't.

Being around vets, practicing with them, watching how they head into work every day and their composure, knowing you're one step away from joining them consistently... those are all things that help a players growth. He's got to want and be driven to want that extra step and he also has to see how to get there. He won't necessarily see how to get there by playing with people beneath the talent level he needs to get at.

A month of just observing will be very important when he actually is sent down. For some players it comes naturally. Maybe they think Miller needs to learn from the vets and change how he approaches every cycle of being a professional before being sent down on his own.

for the Rangers its hard to find these type

James Neal, Jamie Benn, Scott Hartnell David Backes Dustin Brown Corey Perry, Ryan Getzlaf, E.Kane, Ladd, Lucic, Horton, Jamie McGinn, Pacorietty, Kesler. most teams do have these types...

I mean via trade haha.

Half of those guys aren't a large physical presence. Jamie McGinn isn't a 20-25 goal scorer.

Plus, by your standards judging by that group, the Rangers have two currently on the roster... One which they drafted.

What about Del Zotto and Bourque for Matt Martin and Scott Mayfield?

Why add Bourque? That's already a terrible package for DZ. If we move him for a forward, it needs to be someone with good offensive ability and if it's for a D, it needs to be an NHLer. Those two aren't equal to DZ value-wise and don't address any of the team needs.

And I like Mayfield as a prospect. I just don't see it as a good deal for this team.

It's not easy to find them, and it's even more difficult to wait for most of them to develop into those players.

Backes took 5 years to score 30 goals in the NHL. Ladd took a long time to turn into the player he is now, and two teams dealt him in the mean time. Pacioretty took a while to get to the NHL. James Neal is insanely inconsistent and rarely physical. Hartnell took plenty of time to turn into an effective scorer as well.

Despite 10 or so teams having those sort of players on their roster, they're extremely hard to find.

I don't get the MDZ for another D idea.
This team can't score and we want more D?
Nash can't do it alone as per last yrs playoffs. I love the new look, the new system, but have serious doubts against high calibre teams (ie playoffs)

RHD is still an area of weakness, like it or not.

If DZ can fetch a Pulock or a Ceci, plus another good piece, you go for it.

Mostly, it's about getting an RD to balance out the group and the uncertainty surrounding Girardi and Stralman. I would prefer to improve our offense, but wouldn't be upset with shoring up that part of our D.

I still like Kyle Clifford. I wonder if he is still available and what he cost would be.

Zibanejad, Connolly, Coyle would all be nice.

I wonder if Boston would even entertain the idea of trading Matt Fraser?

No to Semin. Love the guys skill but he just suffered another concussion.
