Heard that Detroit and The Rangers are in trade talks. Nothing definite but they are IMO a good match. Will post more details if I get any. Interesting.

if that is true Rangers should be asking about Justin Abdelkader.. i know most fans dont realize this but not only do the Rangers need to upgrade their scoring and defense, but they need to upgrade their 3rd and 4th line with guys that can actually skate and not slow down the play. why do you think the Rangers always get outplayed by other teams 3rd and 4th lines??..

Abdelkder has 13 pts in 32 games 3 goals.. Dorsett is the only 4th liner that has the same about of goals as him...

girardi+ for abdelkader+tatar? 4th line would be abdelkader-boyle/moore-dorsett

I wouldn't mind Abdelkader. Hard nosed player with decent skills, good in front of the net and along the walls. Slots right in on LW on the fourth line. He'd probably be a contract dump for Detroit, too. Add him to that deal I put up before.

Abdelkader sounds nice actually. Abdelkader and a prospect or a pick?

Yes moar grinders

Please.

Bring back torts !!

Rangers 3rd and 4th lines are horrible compared to other teams.. Rangers need to upgrade this part of their team.. why do you think Rangers always get beat by the Carters, Berniers, Clutterbuck and teams with better 3rd and 4th lines.. Rangers have too many slow non skilled guys on the 3rd and 4th lines...

Agreed. Grinders in the bottom 6 is no problem as long as they are used properly. Callahan would be great on the 3rd line but not for anything over 3 mil

Hasn't Abdelkader spent some time playing with Datsyuk and Zetterberg this year? That would increase his point totals by quite a lot.

Does it matter? Give me Abdelkader over Pouliot or Pyatt all day

id take Abdelkader over Boyle, Pouliot, Moore, Pyatt, Asham anyone on the bottom lines except Dorsett.. he actually provides energy when he is not scoring... something the other guys dont do at all... Abdelkader also PK so he can replace Boyle once Boyle leaves or gets traded because Boyle is an UFA at end of year.

He isnt a center, what do you mean replace Boyle? I know you hate him but slow down

Abdelkader would actually be a good fit in the bottom 6, unlike Richards or Brassard, who aren't suited for the 3rd line, or Pouliot, who has struggled all year.

We don't have any grinders, or at least any good ones. We have one dimensional players that can't score.

Yup, I see the "too many grinders" meme a lot but it's an inaccurate characterization of the team, the one dimensional players seem to be more of a problem.

If we did have a lot of grinders, I would imagine we would be seeing more of an effort and better defensive play instead of this uninspired, sloppy nonsense.

Definitely. Having two of Brassard/Richards/Pouliot in your bottom-6 + a rookie is not a recipe for success.

The Rangers are the poster franchise for how a few key BAD moves can just torpedo a franchise below the water line.

Trading away your heart, soul, depth and draft choices, signing the wrong people, hiring the wrong people....that'll kill ya. And the Rangers have done it all in the space of a few months really. Sheesh!

It's

all

Sather.....but who would want to work for Dolan at this point. These guys are in serious trouble.

From 2nd in the league to two points out of 27th, in two years.

Yet, some people here are asking for a Callahan trade. :shakehead

he can replace Boyle's minutes on the penality kill. i know Abdelkader is not a center, but he can also play PK which would be valuable to this team..

Have you watched the guy this season? He's been an abomination, and he's been injured every other month. Guy was obviously not at the top of his game last year, either, but he had the numbers and shot blocking to make people stay quiet. He has neither of those things this season.

Playing 41 games with a torn larbum was the dumbest ****ing thing he could do.

He's playing like turd sandwiches this year. Don't know why, but he's ****ing injured all the time. Shying away from a lot of what made him successful.

It is about making the proper business decision. I'm not particularly fond of sinking money into a player who has had difficulty playing full seasons, especially at the likely cost it's going to take to sign him.

This team needs to be blown up NOW. Trade every player whose contract is up. Fill out next years roster with low risk players on short term deals that you can dump at the deadline to contenders. These players will keep the seats warm and buy time for kids in Hfd. But we have to maximize asset management right now. We kind of screwed up a rebuild by locking up Lundqvist, but the way hes playing, he wont slow it down.We lost to Wilkes-Barre, got beat by the Islanders. Denial isnt going to help. Sell immediately.

You have to trade Callahan. His style of play has taken a toll. He either continues until he's gone, or he has to dial it down. Either way, you will be paying a guy for something he can no longer provide.

The Rangers need someone in management to take the bull by the horns. Stop kicking the can down the road. There are plenty of metaphors. The issues aren't going away.
