Would like to get Stastny in the off-season, trade Del Zotto + Fast for Tlusty, let Girardi and Callahan walk, and sign Phaneuf

Kreider Stepan Nash - 2.2 + 3.075 + 7.8
Hagelin Stastny Tlusty - 2.25 + 6.5 + 2.6
Zuccarello Brassard Kristo - 1.8 + 3.2 + 1.1
Miller Boyle Dorsett - .895 + 2.2 + 1.63
Lindberg - .675

McDonaugh Phaneuf - 4.7 + 7.2
Staal Stralman - 3.975 + 3.3
Moore McIlrath - 1.4 + .7
Falk - 1.2

Goalies - 8.5 + .562

= 67.562

Obviously would be ideal to trade Callahan and Girardi if this was a plan, but I don't trust management to pull that trigger.

I like both Phaneuf and Stastny (though this is all highly unlikely) but we can do better for MDZ + Fast. Add Cally at the deadline and get a much better winger than Tlusty to put on your second line. Phaneuf with McDonagh would be an excellent pairing. McD could cover his lapses while he brings offense, snarl, big hits and a big shot.

Good move for the Sabres. Give him a legit shot on a team that has spots open and isn't going anywhere. Boom or bust for a 6th? Good deal.

And no I'm not condoning that move for the Rangers

Sleeping?

Miller was called up.

Turning point of the season. :sarcasm:

My tooth broke in half when the news that Miller was recalled broke. I blame Sather. This was the straw that broke the camel's back... or in my case, the apple bit that broke my tooth.

No really, he probably had to take his afternoon nap today. Wouldn't be surprised if he had a senior citizen 3-5 nap daily.

Pfft. They don't wake him out of cryo-freeze for the "christmas roster freeze". They'll thaw him out 1 week before the trade deadline.

Can't say I'm surprised. You won't see any serious trades from this team until the trade deadline. I was kinda hoping that the Rangers would move some of their deadweight right now. But, I guess it aint worth it atm.

I'd do this:

Del Zotto for 1st
Girardi for 1st, 2nd if he doesn't re-sign
Buy out Richards

End up with several 1st round picks, take advantage of the bad start, suffer for a year and get some good prospects in the draft (NO DEFENSEMEN!!!)

Your logic is sound but realistically this is a pipe dream.

Hypothetically, if you trade Girardi and Callahan for 1st round quality prospects who are close-to or NHL ready, the team would only suffer marginally this season. Trading for draft picks won't help the team for another 3-4 years, though it's a pretty good move regardless. Our system lacks impact scoring forwards (now that Kreider is on the team for good) ready for the NHL. The only person I think that has a real shot to be a scoring forward is Kristo and maybe Miller (who I think will be more of a Dubinsky type player, which is completely fine). Fast and Lindberg are good players but more bottom 6 types.

Maybe Duclair, Buchnevich, and Nieves can be that but I don't think they'll be ready any time soon.

I'd love to acquire someone like Brandon Pirri/Jeremy Morin from Chicago or Nieto/Tierney/Tennyson(RHD) from San Jose.
