Heh..totally off topic.. I have MDZ on the trade block in NHL14. Tampa offers up St. Louis and Ohlund for MDZ, Pyatt and a 3rd. I shoulda jumped on it.

Why can't this be as easy in real life? IN reality we're not getting jack for Pyatt or MDZ. MDZ is damaged goods right now. I'm still not sold on trading Cally...

Honestly, if we got a 1st for DZ and another 1st for Girardi, and went with Stahlman, Falk, McIlrath down the right side if Lundqvist has a rejuvenated 2nd half(not out of the question) and we stay healthy, we could probably still squeak into the playoffs. We would also have 3 1sts to boot haha

Dz won't get us a first he's not a reliable rental like Girardi he's more of the project with potential players. We'll end up with a 3rd and prospect for dz or underachieving roster player for him. As long as we get one more first this year I'm happy, Girardi should be traded to a team in the playoff chase out west for a 1st and a Callahan trade needs to be explored as well. Both guys can return a 1st +

The Rangers need a team in their division to go on a run and solidify a playoff spot. Pittsburgh is in. The Caps score enough goals to make it. Philly is 3-0-1 in their last 4. Play Columbus and Minnesota before the break. They have a tough trip after Christmas. Edmonton,Vancouver,Calgary,Avs,Phoenix and Jersey.

Darren Dreger said this morning that Glen Sather called yesterday asking (again) about Jake Gardiner and Cody Franson. Dreger says he believes the New York Rangers would much rather prefer Franson and they think very highly of him.

Earlier this week, Dreger said the Rangers would likely be willing to move Michael Del Zotto for Cody Franson. That is how highly Sather and his scouts think of Franson. The Maple Leafs would be unlikely to move Franson since he is a right handed defenceman.

Straight up. Sign me up!

Franson is 3 years younger and is RFA in the summer. Not UFA like Girardi.

It's tough to make that deal straight up on the Toronto side.

I like Franson but I've always loved Girardi and he's exactly what we need.

Haven't had a chance to watch your team much this year, so I'm not sure if his play has held up.

Girardi for Franson? Brutal.

I've never seen our players so undervalued on this board by other team's fans, yet I don't think we've overvalued our guys more. The truth is somewhere in the middle.

Girardi and Callahan would both fetch at least a 1st and a prospect at the deadline. If Paul Gaustad got a 1st rounder, it's asinine to say they would get less. Del Zotto will be moved for an out of favor player elsewhere if he's moved at all.

Del Zotto and something decent for Yakupov?
Del Zotto for Kulikov?

and Girardi is capable of playing 1st pairing minutes and looking decent while doing so. Girardi >> Franson. Forget the RFA/UFA stuff.

Yakupov isnt coming here, unless you wanna trade Kreider and a 1st along with DZ, but i doubt that.

Franson signed a contract with the SHL during the lock-out. Toronto had no interest in him last season -- since they obviously feel that he is a borderline NHLer -- and hence he didn't even want a NHL-out clause. He could only return to Toronto since Brynäs, his team in the SHL, released him for free because he wasn't good enough for the SHL.

This is direct quotes from Brynäs GM on Fransson (http://www.aftonbladet.se/sportbladet/hockey/sverige/shl/brynas/article16079094.ab):
– He could push people in the back, but he wasn't particulary fast when he was supposed to make a transition play. -Michael Sundlöv

He started well, but then something happend. He was just too slow. He often held on to the puck too long which got him into trouble and he didn't shoot enough on the PP.

The SHL is not that good nowadays with the KHL taking the best players, and especially the NHL D's are just so much better 1-on-1 than the SHL D's. Most NHL D's sticks out as being really good in the SHL.

The Dreger talk is all "sponsored" hype BS. Someone tells Dreger that "Slats would love to get Fransson" to create a bidding situation. I am sure we might consider gambling on Fransson. We would be insande to give up a big price for him.

Its obvious what Toronto feels of Fransson. There has twice been talk about Fransson getting a big pay day, his stats seem to warrant 3-4m per. Every time Toronto let him sit out and then eventually signs him for much less. They don't care if he doesn't sign. It was like that last season, Toronto let him know that he wasn't in their plans and that they couldn't move him so Fransson signed a deal with the SHL. Then he took 800k in Toronto after his SHL-team kicked him out...

This would be my game-plan for this org:

Wait.

1. Resign Cally. 8 year and try to aim to get an AAV of sub-6m.

2. Resign Girardi unless there is a really good deal to make. I doubt it though.

3. Wait till Staal has been able to come back and get some credibility, then trade him for a young promising forward.

Look for as much offensive potential as possible in the forward we get.

4. Make a number of players from a group of Carl Hagelin, John Moore, JT Miller, Fast, Lindberg, Skjei as well as picks available and trade for a right shooting offensive minded D.

5. Consider keeping Richards. Cap-space is useless in the coming two years anyway.

Raw lineup going forward:
Kreider-FORWARD*-Nash
Brassard-Stepan-Zucc
Miller-Lindberg-Callahan
Boyle-Dorsett-PF
McD-NEW D
MDZ-McIlrath
Skjei/Moore-Girardi

My plan would be to go into the next two drafts with 2, maybe even 3 extra 1st round picks in each of them along with various others picks.

This year Callahan, Girardi, Boyle, Del Zotto, would provide the extra picks plus the Rangers own. Along with whatever, if anything, they could get for Pyatt, Moore, Pouliot, Asham.

Next deadline they move Staal, Dorsett, and whatever if anything they could get from the one year free agents they signed this summer plus the Rangers natural picks. Maybe even Nash if he'll waive his clause and any team wants him.

Hand Gorton and Clark the keys prior and let them have a shot at it.

8 years of Callahan at 5 mil per is awful I wouldn't give him more than 4 years honestly. He's served the rangers well since he's been here but he's gotta go. He's a 3rd liner on a really good team honestly but a sucker gm will give him 6.5 mil a year for 6 years hopefully that sucker isn't Sather.

Yes this. This is my exact plan, pile up as many picks and prospects as possible for the next 2 drafts and wait for a young stud player to be available and trade for him. Bobby Ryan and a top 6 center would be my choice. Draft well and don't get sucked into another Nash like trade and we'll be ok

It would be great of a few teams started to go on a bit of a tear and surpass the Rangers. I think Columbus will make a late season push when they get Gaborik and Horton back.

At this point, the hope should be for every team under the Rangers to start winning game to solidify their ****** position.

How about they just let their own players develop and then let them score instead of trading for another player?

Cally at 3 years for no more than $4.5 would be optimal. But that's not gonna happen. I'm really worried about these upcoming Cally, Girardi, etc. deals...
