Speculation: Trade Rumors/Speculation Part VIII: Trades for no reason

Tootoo was called up for Detroit today. Calling it now. Pyatt for Tootoo. Asham back down.
 
Mckenzie on NBCSN seems to think the Leafs are re-signing Phaneuf, so it is unlikely the Rangers can hedge bets on him being there on July 1.
 
Franson is a 3rd pairing PP specialist. People get enamored with him because of his size, but he's pretty much Kurtis Foster with a bit more mobility. Clueless defensively, but man, that shot, bro.

Trading a player for a lesser player is a bad idea, and that's before you even factor in the 3 year age gap and the fact that Franson is a year away from being a UFA.

Sounds like Del Zotto currently except for the PP specialist part.
 
Are people actually considering the Rangers as buyers? You serious? Nash, Brassard, Girardi, MDZ, Stralman, Zuccarello, they should all be "touchable" and talked about. We need assets and youth. This team is FAR, FAR from being good.

Do you know who the GM is? He's not selling, and he's definitely not selling a star like Nash. Trading some guys that are great deals, like Stralman and Zucc would be silly to trade IMO. They're not "untouchable," but they're not worth a ton and they do well for this team given whats expected of them.

Either way, regardless of what any of us may want, Sather is Sather and I'd bet that he's not trading established players for assets and youth.
 
heard a rumor that the Rangers are on the verge of trading MDZ for Franson....

but I was told to "grain of salt" it...IE, unknown legitimacy....but I figured I'd share...

Good friend. But I was told that this is VERY grain of salt....my friend didnt even wanna mention it to me, but I dragged it out.

so, basically, it's like an Eklund rumor...you heard it, you can trash it, and if it comes to pass, you can all send me money via paypal :)
 
There's no way we can get Fraser (not to be confused with Franson as I did earlier) is there?
 
Not a big fan of a Del Zotto for Franson swap.

Don't hate Franson. And don't love Del Zotto. But their value should be far apart IMO.

It fits the narrative that has been leaking though. "Rangers need a RHD back in the deal."

Didn't Darren Dreger mention that rumor? I've seen it all over Twitter, but I don't know if Dreger actually said it.

I would absolutely do a Del Zotto for Franson deal. Maybe we can get Biggs included as well

I think anything is better than MDZ as long as we're getting a forward out of the deal... even a prospect forward is welcomed

i dont do twitter so i wouldnt know...just a good friend who told it to me. like i said, grain of salt people...

I really truly do hope the Leafs are signing him up again. This is ultra-good news to me. He won't be a Ranger. Hallelujah!
