The targets of these trade proposals are always humorous, coming from the better teams in the league.

These very good teams, high atop the standings, are not going to rip their roster apart to acquire another player. Who do you think they are, the New York Rangers?

I think the Blues would probably be on board with that deal actually. Hagelin fits the mold of that team a bit better than Stewart. Swapping guys who are getting 3rd line minutes isn't exactly "ripping apart" the roster.

I'm not sure about that. The blues want a big physical team.

Elliot Friedman posted in 30 thoughts that Linus Omark is available and the Oilers are trying to move him. Say he is an NHL player, but no spot on the Oilers for him. We should look into that. Has supreme talent. Skilled winger. We can use someone like that on the current roster I know he is not big player or physical, but his puck skills could be an asset. What would it cost? Low pick and middling prospect? I think it I s worth the risk.

EDIT: Per David Pagnotta from the 4th period, Omark has formally requested a trade and the Oilers want to accommodate with a team that will play him in the NHL.

Are you sure about that? Just looking at the offers that Clarkson got, I'm sure some team will offer Callahan that money.

and I will be the first guy to congradulate him and wish him well with his new team.

Clarkson is grossly overpaid at 5.25, anything more than that for Callahan, a player that when healthy is a joy to watch...when healthy, is beyond stupid.

The Rangers will look COMPLETELY different next september.

Linus Omark - Enver Lisin

useless

So jealous of the bruins. Kane is actually a perfect for for them. Big tough power guy that can score.

Well, at least Hagelin has nice hair.

The Rangers will struggle until Henrik Lundqvist gets back to his level, but another issue is the structure of their defence. It's more than just a new system. Look at what Vigneault had in Vancouver, where Canucks defencemen combined for 157 points in 2010-11 and 181 in 2011-12. Last year's 82-game pace would've translated into 147 points. The Blueshirts' blue-line is different, especially with Michael del Zotto struggling and Marc Staal's production way down. They're looking at 111 points from that position.

The Rangers need an overhaul. McDonagh and Moore stay. McIlrath stays. The rest of them can go.

He would not cost a roster guy like korpikoski was. He is in the AHL, not the NHL like lisin was. He has fallen off top prospect status. Lisin, to me, was still a higher end prospect that busted here. Have to take a slight risk to bring in talent. Could be another Zuke for all we know. Needs a chance at this level.

For all you Eklund lovers:

He ominously tweeted "Diaz +" about 15 minutes ago.

Raphael Diaz is a RD for Montreal.

The tweet before that was yesterday about how the Rangers and Habs were working a pre-freeze trade.

Let the speculation begin.

they are already a big physical team and have a bunch of guys in their system that are big and physical...they aren't the Rangers...they can afford to make this deal.

would love to add Stewart to the Rangers.

would try real hard not to move Hagelin for him as I would prefer to have my LW depth chart include Kreider, Stewart and Hagelin

I was curious about Diaz. Don't know what kind of value he holds though. I would think it is at best a lateral move unless there are more significant pieces in play

But Diaz isn't young. Isn't durable. And he isn't all that productive. So maybe they got him cheap

He is 5'11, has 0 goals and 10 assists thus far this year.

Too small to be a physical defenseman. Doesn't score. Strong suite isn't moving the puck either. So he's fits the mold of the majority of the team by having a skillset that doesn't hold much skill.

If that's all the value that DZ held... that's shameful.

me 2, l like Hagelin, don't love him but who else has any value on our team, not named, Stepan, Kreider, McDonagh, McIlrath, Miller

He would be the perfect player for the Rangers.

Raphael Diaz is very "ok". Good PKer, can carry the puck, that's really it. We have the better version of him in the AHL in Allen.

I'd rather get a good forward than a good defenseman, right now.

Here's what Eklund said:

On the Habs and Rangers...

The names I am hearing are Del Zotto going to Montreal with Diaz and a prospect (e3) returning to NY. The Avalanche also have plenty of interest in Del Z...but are playing it very close to the vest.

Maybe it's Tenordi? :D

I like plenty of these players, and I believe they can bring something to a club in the NHL. BUT, a team like we have has about one spot for a kid like this and that spot is taken by Zucc. Had Zucc not been here, I think someone like Hemsky or Omark really would have provided us with something that we miss.

But with Zucc already here, I think it would be tough to carry both him and Omark.
