Why do you think he hugged all his teammates after his last game?
Could be 100 different things but i promise you its not because hes coming here

Bergeron is a Nordiques fan who spent hes career playing for the Bruins theres zero chance he would ever consider Montreal

And btw he already shut down those rumours he said he wasnt coming here

Can you send a link of him shutting down the rumours? Not calling you out just interested in seeing that.

I think most people have moved on from Mailloux’s transgressions. This is a non issue now imo, he’s paid his debt to society and now all that matters is if he is good enough. Teenagers make dumb decisions, this doesn’t have to define who he is for the rest of his life. There is no spotlight anymore. It’s time to move on and see if the kid can play, I think he’s got all kinds of game.

I dont think society works like that in the affirmative action era. If Mailloux ever suits up for the habs, the media will be a complete shit show before his first game.

If Mailloux suits up with the Habs, it'll be a long way off. The question at this point is less what would happen in that situation and more if he'll do enough next season to earn an ELC.

I really hope we can trade for one more chance at Bedard. Right now we have our pick which should be top 10 and Florida's (which I highly doubt they finish bottom 10)

If we could capitalize on a team that is desperate to make the playoffs and trade one of (Drouin, Hoffman, Anderson, Gallagher) for an unprotected pick, we may be on to something.

Ottawa
Islanders
Pittsburgh
Buffalo

Are teams that come to mind when I think they may be willing to gamble.

I would like to go get Crouse in the deal for Weber's contract. Would you guys part with Calagry's 1st for him?

I think he would be a good complement to Suzuki and Caufield.

Cant make a trade based on today. Gotta think long term.
Another reason why that trade doesn't get made. Both teams will think they have the better player so won't want to give them up. Unless both teams think they other player is better, you won't get a deal. Not to mention the backlash of trading a 1st OA so recently after his draft. These trades just don't get made unless both players are unhappy and the teams switch them, like PLD and Laine. This is ever more difficult due to the discrepancy in draft order as well. Just wouldn't count on it anytime soon.

I kind of liken it to Iginla Niewendyk.
Both players are great, going to be great. Habs just need to get bigger, if CC wasnt so small which poses problems come playoffs I'd hold on to him.

Huh? Iginla Niewendyk was trading a top prospect/high potential player for a veteran top player in the NHL. Its not even remotely comparable.

And Lafreniere has been very quiet in his playoff performances while Caufield was literally Montreal's best offensive forward in the cup run last year. Montreal needs size but that's not the way to go about doing it.

6 years in the league and a career high 34 pts who’s gonna be overpaid this summer.

I’d keep the first. The Habs already have Anderson that fills that description.

I agree, can't see him playing here, and can't see him handling the situation well.

I'd trade him personally, why spend time developing him when you know in advance the way its going to be.

That comp doesn't work. Vet for a prospect while both now are young players.

Why are you concerned about Caufield come playoff time, did you not watch him last playoffs?

I would like us to try to trade for Maxime Comtois and try him with Caufield and Suzuki.

I don’t think the price tag would be too high to not try it.

I'd be doing the following in this order

Pre-draft
1. Trade Weber for picks (to Arizona most likely)
2. Trade Petry for picks
3. Sign a veteran RD

Sign: Pitlick, Dauphin, Pezetta, Romanov, Clague
Walk: Wideman, Lagesonand Perreault

Anderson - Suzuki - Caufield
Hoffman - Dvorak - Gallagher
Drouin - Wright - Armia
Pitlick - Evans - Pezetta
Poehling

Edmundson - Romanov
Harris - Savard
Gughle - UFA

2023 TDL:
1. Trade Drouin at 50% to a contender for picks, and Byron if he can get games in but he's likely LTIR
2. Trade Allen for picks

2023 offseason:
Draft Bédard

Guys like Hoffman, Gallagher, Armia are cap dumps...they'll have more value in their final years retained.
