Ignorant fans. Little's contract has more actual money to pay out in a shorter span vs Weber while Weber takes up more cap room to reach the floor.

It's just not debatable. Weber's contract it worth more to the Coyotes than Little's contract is.

False. Not every team has 3 or 4 Strubles and just cause he don't make our top 10 prospects, it don't make his value less. It just means our pool is deep. Not many teams can measure up to the Habs draft power over the last few drafts.

Struble is a grade B or B+ type (at best today). Maybe each team has 1 but your reaching with the 3 or 4 narrative. He's not a grade B- or C prospect which is how I see your evaluation on him.
Weber’s contract is a dream for Arizona. Bettman may have other ideas however.

Would you trade our 2023 first for Arizona’s 2022 first and one of their other firsts in 2022? Getting Wright, one of Nemec/Slaf/jiricek and an extra late 1st this year sounds pretty nice, but I likely still wouldn’t do it. It would be tempting though.

Yes I would. Because Montreal drafting top 3 next year is not a guarantee. Arizona would be crazy to do this

Yeah, there are scenarios I would too. If Nemec is available at 3, Price and Edmundson are healthy and ready to go for game 1, and we either keep Petry or replace him with a comparable player, I do this trade instantly.

Dont see how devils do it when they can instead turn around and draft jiricek/nemec and instantly have a better D prospect than ghule. I doubt a late first bridges the quality gap from their pov.

The whole idea behind NJ pick being in play is for them getting more competitive.
I dont see how that deal accomplishes that for them.
I am lukewarm about the top rated D in every years drafts. It seems there's always a better or equivalent prospect than the top ranked one. With forwards, the gap is always wider between the top2-3 and the rest.
So if I was NJD I just might do it if D is what I'm looking for. Guhle is closer to the NHL and the added 1st round pick might be flipped again for added immediate help. As the Habs I'd definitely do it because of our surplus at LD, and Romanov is already a top 4 defensive and mobile option

No hes not lol i dont even see Struble making the NHL hes nothing special

He has zero value right now
I wouldn't say zero but he has not progressed at all offensively which was pretty much what we were sold draft day as what he'd become. He was basically called a new Subban PMD who takes huge risks, yet only his defensive numbers have improved.

I don't think Struble's even on our top 15 list at the moment and most of that list are dmen.

Apparently it was close to happening and got held back by medical paperwork that would have taken the move past the deadline. It’ll happen.
I have a feeling there's a bigger trade happening involving Weber. If it was just futures being exchanged along with Weber, I would think the trade would have already happened. There must be other players involved. There's also the rumor that the Coyotes aren't the only team interested in the contract, so perhaps the Habs are hanging on to see who's going to cough up the best return? Again though, I would think if it was just picks involved a trade would have already happened.

Struble is a potential third pairing D, it seems unlikely that most teaks don't have a few of those.

I'll be damned if we receive anything more significant than a third round pick for Weber, I just can't see this happening. It is such a minor league mentality

This contract is the main reason why they changed the rules with a max number of years and max salary fluctuation. The league would look like an even bigger joke (if that's even possible), if the Yotes paid a premium price just so they can put a less competitive team in front of less than 3000 "fans".

I hope they can't fill that rink and it ends up moving to Quebec. And while we're there, I also hope Bettman has to retire in disgrace

Has nothing to do with being competitive and most about surviving till the league finds a solution, and 26 million cash saving goes a long way into that. remember the league would prefer not to put up the cash themselves.

Not sure if this has been discussed but any chance the Habs could deal for Chychrun? He fits our new core age and would be a good replacement for Petry.
I would love it but it would be costly. Starting with a first round pick and a very good d prospect.

Guhle is the best defenseman in the CHL, and the captain of the Team Canada World Juniors team. He plays monster minutes and in all situations for his WHL club (the Oil Kings) where he’s been simply dominant this playoffs. This is a cornerstone stud defenseman that we have here - a leader, has size, a mean streak, hits like a truck, skates well, has an excellent pass and shot, puts up points, and can play anywhere - and excel! There’s a reason he’s often compared to Shea Weber. It’s been a really long time since we’ve had such a completely well rounded prospect.
After McDonagh and Sergechev I would not trade another first round pick defenseman

because every team has atleast 3/4 strubles, does he even make our top 10 prospects
He is former 2nd round pick

What do you think we will get? You sound knowledgeable?

Northeastern played a super defensive system last season though. Harris' production also suffered from it. I'll wait to see what he can do in the AHL in a year before passing judgment.

If the deal was Weber for picks straight up, i don't know why the deal did not went through after the deadline anyway.

So probably there was other players involved.

Good question. i think Weber's contract is gone to Arizona but for the rest...
I know not this offseason, but in a couple of years. When These bad contracts finally be gone, could use some of the extra caproom and draft capital we have to get a deal on player like Fiala. I think he be good fit on line with Suzuki and Caufield.

Probably sign a Copp as UFA, for third line center. Suzuki, Caufield, Fiala, first line. Wright Roy, Bedard, second line. Anderson, Copp, Gallagher third line. Make powerful team.

Damn I’m not that knowledgeable ;)

The Bryan Little contract was traded for a 4th rounder. Could be a similar return here. Let’s not forget the Coyotes are likely desperate for LTIR contracts since they want to tank in 2023 and they won’t be making any revenue from ticket sales for the next few years.

Don’t forget that they give Nathan Smith in trade with Little

So it’s like if we traded Jordan Harris + Shea Weber vs 4th

Good call. So maybe we are looking at a 5th+

But at first we thought we’d have to give assets to get rid of Weber’s contract. To get anything is a positive.
