From where we sit Pasta is more a leader than Mac....
Duly noted and you would know. Mac is a hitter and does a lot of charity work, but I don't have a feel for his habits and personality. He is a hockey lifer though.
However, Pasta is still so happy go lucky not sure he has the edge to lead. Maybe he can do it his way.....The captaincy might help him keep a more even intensity level too. It's pretty good, but Pasta takes a Siesta once in a while imo.

Pastrnak reminds me of David Ortiz with the Red Sox. He kept the mood in the locker room light, always good for a laugh, but when it comes down to game time he shows up and performs. If Marchand doesn’t return this summer I’d hope Pastrnak is named the next captain. He’s earned it

He seems to be the spokesperson for the Bs.

I agree he should be next captain but cannot help hoping that Brad will return for one more.

I haven't seen that. Pasta does play injured though. Pasta is not always happy go lucky. He speaks to players, coaches and stripes and sets up plays on the ice. It has been a blast to watch him grow into a leader.

Also, Pasta does lots of charity work as well. Many hockey players do which I love.

Hockey players are the best athletes for charity work. i don't know if is the humbling culture around the game or mostly Canadian culture but they are the best. Pasta certainly does play injured.......

I was leaning toward Pasta as Bruins captain after Marchy was traded, but after watching this interview I'm convinced he would make a good captain

..but the B's saying they'll be no C on anybody's jersey for the remainder of the season tells me there's a good chance Marchy is coming back next year
Personally I hope he comes back but really don’t like him being the captain it takes the rat out of him.

Sacco must go.
Agreed, and if I wasn't sure before, I was sure convinced when Caplan asked him - after a tough day on Friday, what his message was to the team before the Tampa game. Good grief, it appeared to me from his blank stare and rambling non-sensical answer that he hadn't given the team a clear message, or hadn't put any thought into it.

Existing players reeling, new players in the locker room without a practice, wouldn't you have thought he'd have a couple of good sound bites to send them onto the ice with. I don't know, "keep it simple, play with speed, trust your teammates" .... something like that? I was really disappointed, but it seems somewhat typical.

Exactly! Focus on the now and when the season is over then ill turn my attention to the draft and FA.
Except the “now” affects the draft a great deal. Not being cognizant of your situation and your future is the sign of a poorly run organization. We are talking about a professional hockey team, not a “self help” strategy.

The last 17 games of the season should be an audition for the younger players. I want to see what Merkulov, Lysell, Poitras, Khuz, Minten, and others can do against NHL competition.

This will give the organization a better idea of how to approach the offseason. Everything is connected.

I hope they win 10 in a row. Just fight until the very end and I’ll be happy. If it means playoffs then that is the cherry on top
I hope they win all 17 remaining games.

Also, I followed up on our 'raptor Jesus' conversation from yesterday. That went all the way back to ATL and Peverley didn't know anything about it until after he got traded to Dallas. I saw a funny article about him meeting some fans who went to a Stars game with raptor masks and signs. Thanks for telling me.

Sounds like they are leaving the possibility of a return open and on the table.

I have to agree with you that Marchand being captain does take away from his overall feistiness or "playing on the edge", but nobody on the Bruins deserves the C more than Brad

True, but Brad's been captain now. Box has been ticked. And he was captain for the centennial year. Short of lifting a Cup, doesn't get much more special than that. So even if he returned, I'd move on with the captaincy, and I don't see that as any show of disrespect. Pasta is growing into it more and more. As I said elsewhere, really I'd prefer some experienced third party to get the C, just to let Pasta and Charlie focus on what they do best, but failing that David is the one now standing out to me.

And I don't think them leaving the spot vacant for now means anything. Too late in the season to give it to anybody and have it mean anything. Best to wait, see what exactly the roster looks like come July, and decide then.

Donny is a magician and many here want him out.
I'm guilty of wanting Sweeney fired, because he was destined to drive the Bruins bus right into the ditch, and then be hopelessly stuck in the mud (for years)

..but on trade deadline Friday, Donny was not only able to avoid hitting the ditch by swerving back onto the road at the last second, he got the bus under control and back into the driving lane ...then safely coasted home

After seeing Sweeney manouever his way out of a total shitshow (dead weight on the previous roster) in just one day, and escape inevitable diaster (previous roster) for years to come, I not only want him to stay on as Bruins GM ...I'll have to refer to him as Houdoni for now on

..and now I'm looking forward to the next game again

He surprised the f%$!@ out of me and I thought he would bring it back. I agree Houdini is right. 😃 I'm very excited for the next chapter with our suberb GM Mr Sweeney leading the charge. Let's go!

But who will Gary hand the Cup to? :sarcasm:

That's ridiculous. Sign a Backes so Pasternak can't be captain until he's old and washed up?
