I will gladly send you $10 in royalties if we draft Bedard. You can screenshot this as your record

I wait the year. Then see what PLD is saying whichever team he is on. If he wants to hit UFA status , fine. If he tells his team the Habs are a preferred destination then there can be discussions. Or Habs just take the chance he hits the open market and talk to him then.

And I don't see how we can, or should, offer him $9M. Only 23, but his career highs are 61 points and 28 goals. Will he play centre ? Third line C ? Winger ? That's nuts to pay him that kind of money.

To me this should go nowhere.

Then we will see in 2 years time. Trading for PLD now is foolish and unnecessary and a pipe dream given our cap situation.
I’ve said the exact same thing, there’s absolutely no need to spend assets to acquire him. He’s already told Winnipeg he plans on going to UFA and won’t sign long term, so we just keep moving out cap/players that don’t fit for the rebuild and acquiring assets. In 2 years if he truly wants to be here, he will sign, and we will be well on our way to becoming cup contenders.

Yeah, I'm high on him too. Personally, I would trade Romanov before him and maybe to some other teams, they are the same. To me, I have Guhle's potential higher but it's close.

Call me crazy but I'd consider it and push for Romanov, Anderson, and Primeau. I get it though... to some, that appears to be very low.
Romanov is the better player and it will never be close.

Seen a rumor or tweet yesterday that the Devils are high on Primeau. Would you trade Guhle, Primeau, and Anderson for 2nd OA?

My gut tells me there is less than a 5% chance the Devils trade the pick but I can't help but wonder what Hughes is up to.
Would do this trade and pay their taxi to the airport.

Romanov has not shown to have potential to be a core player.

I don’t think it’s irrational to dismiss that list of players either, considering it took the Habs ten years to draft a single *potential* core player in Caufield.

Waiting two more years for two more years of draft picks so they can become impact players in 2+3 more years is really… not my idea of a good time.

Perhaps the players already drafted, such as Farrell and Roy, become NHLers in the next two years and impact players within two years after that… that’s still the 2026-2027 season we are looking at, at the earliest.

I don’t have any interest in a crappy team for four more years on the hope and dream that half a decade later it’ll suddenly turn good. I firmly believe it’s important to constantly acquire good and cap efficient players at all times — someone like Laine, if he’s available, can only help.
Agreed 100%. Selling everything not strapped down is always a prolonged losing recipe and tbh almost always leads to more losing instead of winning.

Why? The cap will bounce up to $100M+ ceiling within 2-3 years easily..

The players have to pay off the escrow balance before the cap can rise significantly. After that is paid off the most it can increase in a season is by 5% per the CBA.

Selling low on Guhle. Would like to see how he does with pros.
Meh, 2nd overall has a better chance of being an impact player. Guhle has very limited offensive capabilities imo. He’s a 3/4 at best for me, I don’t grow too attached to guys like this. If you get a chance at a better player. It’s a no brainer imo.

no, Guhle and Romonov solidify the left d for years to come, teams need these types of players to win ,especially in the playoffs, just wondering would any team be interested in taking multiple picks for a first rounder? the habs have edmontons 2nd rounder, keeping there own, but have 3 thirds and 3 4ths to trade , how many of these are needed to move up and how far? remember some teams do not have a lot of pics and may want to add to prospects pool.

You don't move a whole lot with 3rd and 4th round picks.. probably only within said round. Let's say Edmonton's 2nd + Anaheim's 3rd to move up and pick Washington's 2nd that is about 8-9 spots earlier.

I’d rather keep Guhle and trade up to draft an offensive Dmen to go with Guhle. Someone like Korchinski etc..

These are odd takes when put together...

I'm a big Romanov fan and have been since well before he turned pro, but it still remains to be seen, 2 full seasons into his young career, if he'll develop enough offensive production to be more than a Refugee type #2-3 dman.

Guhle is putting the final touches on a season that puts him among the best all around dmem in the CHL...

Not sure who is bet on to reach the highest NHL season at this point, but to argue it "will never be close" & then point to Guhles offensive ceiling as a reason he'll only be a 3-4? Odd logic to follow unless is just gut (& then perhaps the certainty is misplaced).

Personally, barring a massive overpayment, I wouldn't think of trading either. Id place Guhle's ceiling a touch higher (ironically BC I think he's got a better offensive production ceiling than Romy), but I think both could easily end up quality top pairing dmen, if not legit #1D.
Both share a great work ethic quality that will likely see them push to the upper edges of their potential. A quality often underrated.

Be very, very careful. Signing and overpaying for Dubois in 2024 could destroy our rebuild and contract situations the same way it did for the Leafs when they signed Tavares.
We could acquire him now then? Max 8mil for a top line player as the cap continues to increase?

Suzuki has his contract. Caufield is likely in the same range next year. If Wright is chosen, he’s years away from contract negotiations. Guhle, Barron, Romanov aren’t going to break the bank.

We’re looking at a very different team structure and a very different GM. I don’t project this being a huge problem.

Hope not but PLD may be a luxury in 2 years time, not a necessity.
