Middlestadt had a nice game. He brings a skill set that was sorely lacking among the Bruins forwards, outside of Pasta. The ability to hang on to a puck and make a quick play in tight and feed passes through sticks and legs. That's how he sprung Koepke.

Unfortunately Coyle is glacial. We got used to it but it showed itself in the playoffs
The problem with Coyle last year was he matched up against Barkov or Bennett. Those Centers are far superior and superior to Coyle. With Colorado he will be 3\4 C and at home will match up against centers at his level. He may end up at
3RW with Ross Colton the center.

Mittelstadt is going to have a tougher road to navigate because he should be at 2C and Lindholm at 3C. They will need to incorporate Mittelstadt on PP1 to get the most out of him because he is weak defensively. Think knockoff Craig Janney.

As others have said, they played fast! Great to see. 2nd youngest roster in The league with two minute-eating defensemen on the mend. The ability to retool through the draft and salary cap space!
Let's hope for a Capitals styled retool for next year!!

That room was shattered after the Friday practice in Tampa

They responded with the best win of the season.
You wonder, if a smaller move, a shot across the bow so to speak, in early January may have righted the ship a bit.

Everyone got too comfortable? It was just one game against a tired disinterested team whose solidly a 1, 2, or 3 seed.

Long term this will work out better than that imho

You probably already saw it but I say knockoff Brad Boyes, without the shot.

Neither Carolina or TB took Boston seriously, more so TB. Carolina probably has
some locker room issues due to the Rantanen fiasco though.

Best case for Boston is battle hard and hopefully get good play from #11, #92, #94 #44 & #1 and win a couple more games to complete a clean short tank without damaging the mindset of their remaining core 5 skaters.

The Joker is a solid skater. Good hockey iq and accurate shooter. Smaller d man though.
It’s not the size of the dog in the fight but the size of the bite in the dog.

I like the joker, he played well and I think is already better than Carlo.

He hits, can shoot the puck and looks poised, and can skate.

I’d lock him up to a 3yr / $10m deal

I am amazed what a leader Pasta has turned into. He will be needed for his leadership as well as his points.
I know many here are (rightfully) unhappy with trading Marchand, but what if the bruins coaches/management see the same thing you do? Pastrnak has matured and is the leader now, maybe it was time to turn the team over to him and McAvoy? They traded Marchand, coyle, Carlo, all players who have worn letters at times here, it is time for pastrnak to put the C on next year and let him be the voice.

I think a lot of those guys were on pins and needles leading up to and the end of the deadline. While surely they were shattered about losing their friends, a huge sigh of relief had to come over many of them that they weren't dealt, and they could now just go out and play without the dreaded distraction of being moved.

Clearly Tampa took this team way to lightly, but good for the Bruins on showing a ton of heart and no-quit, says a lot moving forward.
