HF Habs: Trade Proposal Thread: From Here to Free Agency

That's the only way I see the Hischier connection working. Hughes was able to talk to his agent and the Devils allowed him? Seems like a reach to me at a TDL but it's possible.

Habs were in talks with the Ducks with McTavish. That we know is basically a fact last summer. Habs are after grit up front and you don't go from liking a player a lot to not liking them at all in 1 year. If we traded for McTavish last summer, we would have him on the same contract he has now. That $7M AAV is all about who he can become, not who is now and won't grow/mature.

I like adding McTavish to our top 6 as a physical winger. A winger that could help provide a little physical protection for Demidov. Move Newhook to 3rd line with Kapanen and find a 2C for Demidov and McTavish

In truth, I want a 2C for Demidov and a RD for Hutson (Good skater but size/physical types). However, I am open to adding both McTavish and Hischier and living with the D we have or going after more RD stop gap types that cost less to acquire.

Caufield / Suzuki / Slaf
McTavish / Hischier / Demidov
Newhook / Evans / Texier
Anderson / Danault / Bolduc

Hage replaces Texier. He's not being move for either of McTavish or Hischier.

McTavish for Reinbacher and Kapanen (this is buy much lower than the price last summer)

Hischier for Habs 1st, Pickford, and Dach. One year rental? What are the Devils after for a return? 1/1 hockey trade or for futures mostly?
If possible I would move Hage in 1 second for hischier

I don't think the 2nd is true, Montreal has and had plenty of Americans. Larkin in particular doesn't seem like a guy that wants to play in Canada though.

Sure they have plenty of Americans.....which we drafted and had no choices but to sign here.
I can't even remember the last one who came here willingly without playing here first or being largely overpaid....

Kent stay away from your former client

Sources confirm that Oilers GM Stan Bowman will be speaking with Nurse in the coming days about his wishes.

If Nurse, 31, says he wants to be an Oiler for another season, then trade talk will be shelved and the team will welcome him back for one more year. When he realizes that a trade is imminent, however, two sources have told Sportsnet that the Oilers’ preference would be to move Nurse before the start of next season.

Thank god he doesn't shoot right..

Quartexx mafia would be coming in hot.

Larkin would be a great fit but we're awful trade partners. I'm sure Detroit's going to be looking for a hockey trade since they're not going to intentionally tank next year, and our 2 most intriguing assets wont be NHL eligible next year.

Not the perfect example but when the Habs acquired he was a ufa at the end of the year and the signed an extension for 6 years.

Larkin is awesome, but he’s always given me bad apple and diva vibes.

Like Pacioretty, some are just not fit for the C but are forced into the role because the team has no one else. He does come out a little bit like a diva because he doesn't have that emotional poise of a Weber, Price, Suzuki, Bergeron, etc.

But no one questions his work ethics and that's the most important part of it all.

You put Arber in a zone system, and he would be much better. The constant running around isn't for every player; some are great at it, and some aren't.

Could you imagine if Shea Weber were here and MSL asked him to step off the front of his net and out to the blueline while a forward took his spot in front of the net? He would not do it.

I am not comparing Xhekaj to Shea Weber, btw, but simply saying that a man-on-man chasing system isn't for everyone.

If Arber gets traded to a team who is willing to work with him and develop him based on his strengths, I can see a Ben Chiarot or Adam McQuaid type of career for him.

He is someone that I would never trade, no way but I would rather see him go elsewhere and develop into a solid defenseman.

This. Arber is more valuable to another organization then he is to us. But he is a big trade chip I think.

That's more than Quinn Hughes got, calm down
Difference is Hughes had 2 years left. If they go after a Hischer, you're looking at a sign and trade which is worth more. And with Thomas or Larkin, you're looking at a player with term.

Also let's say Buium is comparable to Hage. Rossi is worth Kapanen and Engstrom together. It's pretty even

It was inevitable that Larkin would end up leaving Detroit. His comments after last year's presser where he criticized the management for not doing enough to help them was foreshadowing what Friedman reports today. We all expected a trade request to come last year in all honesty.
