Larkin( or Thomas, Hischier.................McTavish), Wilson, Parayko and Greer. Do it #HUGO

I wonder if Stamkos is still on the table. I know he isn't a true C but he still had 40G in the last 2 years out of 3. Maybe Preds still want to move on from his contract and look to get a bit younger. 1st+Kap or Bach ? I wouldn't trade Z or Hage for him. I think its 2 more years after this at 8 million that could line up with McNugget hitting UFA.

Arber Xhekaj is getting traded. MSL doesn't trust him enough to play him. The writing is on the wall.
Offer sheet?
2027 2nd Round Pick
$2,387,833 - $4,775,666
2027 3rd Round Pick
$1,575,970 - $2,387,832
would we match 2.38M and under?

I think any thing over that we'd take the 2nd.

Xhekaj was better near the end of the season but MSL doesn't trust him and the coach ain't going anywhere anytime soon. Adding a 2nd allows for the Zharovsky trick again where you move the 1st rounder in a 2C deal and use the 2nds to trade up if someone falls. Or the 2nd is just in the 2C trade, it might take a whack of picks if the idea is to not give up a "core" prospect.

A 3rd is less a slam dunk.

Ultimately, I think Struble struggling to replicate his success as Hutson's partner might doom him means you want a better 4th RD option and Engstrom has played there a ton for Laval.

Hutson-Dobson
Guhle-Carrier
Matheson-Reinbacher
Struble/Xhekaj

but if anyone on the right misses time I think Engstrom should get the opportunity. We might be small, but in the regular season that's not the end of the world and maybe we can swing something like this at the deadline:

Carrier to Team X
Physical RHD from team Y to Habs
Habs Picks/Prospect + Team X Picks/Prospects to Team Y

The Bruins will find a way to get Xhekaj if he leaves, mark my words, they won't trade with us, but they will go after him. He's as Bruin a Bruin as there ever was a Bruin.
And I will hate st louis for the rest of his days here. Clueless stubborn peewee hack.

Forget about Larkin....won't happen.

1- Detroit will trade him as far away as possible
2- He has a full NTC and American boys don't really want to play in Canada
3- We need a center that will accept playing 2nd behind Suzuki and only get the crumbs left behind, that's not Larkin

Larkin would be a great fit but idk if they'd move him in division. Still helps to add another C to the marketplace and take teams off the board for the other options.

I don't think the 2nd is true, Montreal has and had plenty of Americans. Larkin in particular doesn't seem like a guy that wants to play in Canada though.

If Larkin is traded, Detroit isn't competing until he's past his prime anyway so I can't imagine that would be a huge concern.
That would be rational thinking.

I really can't see Detroit being rational.

They haven't made the playoffs in like a decade. They aren't rebuilding, for better or worse.

They're going to keep swinging with the Yzerplan. They're too deep into it at this point, even if the failure seems obvious.

I actually can see Larkin accepting being a 2C if it means hes on a winning team as he hasnt made the playoffs since his rookie year.

That said for reasons 1 and 2, I agree I cant see him being traded here

I still think Tom Wilson was the target at the TDL
They gotta make the call.

Maybe add malenstyn too. Size and speed. 300 hits.

Cc - suze - wilson
Slaf - kap - demi
Newhook - evans - bolduc
Malenstyn - danault - anderson

Maybe 2C is a deadline deal unless hage tearing it up at michigan.

still need to add a defenseman tho.

Caps are not rebuilding. They already have a good prospects / young players pool (Cole Hutson, Protas bros, Leonard, Cristall, Muggli) . They'll keep their vets and progressively add kids.
I'm not on some "we have to trade Caufield" jag but reading the Athletic's breakdown of the Caps, it was easy to see how they could want to target Caufield as the Ovechkin sniper replacement and they'd have someone like Strome as the 2C we need along with Wilson...

Caps should move Wilson and Roy. More likely I could see us targeting one with say Zharovsky, Newhook or Bolduc in the deal and Engstrom/Reinbacher involved.

Strome-Fehervary-Chychrun-Dubois-Thompson are all around 27-29 and can be the veterans and still be good in 2-3 years when they hope Leonard, the Protas brothers, Hutson, McMichael and Sourdif and whatever young talent they get for Wilson and Roy can fill the other big 2-3 roles in their top 6 at forward and top 2 pairings.

Larkin wouldn't even waive the NMC for us or any canadian team imo. He seems like a really patriotic goy , would kiss the wall in a millisecond if asked.

Id love him but he's def not interested

Ya I just don't get the Struble/Hutson obsession from MSL. Its very odd.
It seems strange with coaches, they can like a player and give him opportunities he should never get and on the flipside, if they dislike someone, they can do no right.

I am not singling out MSL because I have seen it so many times over the years. It's brain-dead in my opinion.

Sources confirm that Oilers GM Stan Bowman will be speaking with Nurse in the coming days about his wishes.

If Nurse, 31, says he wants to be an Oiler for another season, then trade talk will be shelved and the team will welcome him back for one more year. When he realizes that a trade is imminent, however, two sources have told Sportsnet that the Oilers’ preference would be to move Nurse before the start of next season.
