Do we have to wait for the Pionk & Schmidt contracts to expire before we can even begin to build a decent D corps?
i just dunno if they'll move them out tbh. they don't move out players with term often, and what are you replacing them with?

Heniola has instilled 0 confidence to be a dependable NHL player. other than that :dunno: which other D prospects are there? and i am not sure what the UFA options are.

they seem to still like both of them a lot. i do like schmidt too. but pionk im not a huge fan of.

wow. now that's f***ing brutal.

elliotte did specify pending physical on jvr.... wonder if there was something there? no idea.

There are a lot of ifs going into the last month of the season. If PLD resurfaces as the player he was in the first half of the season same goes for Scheifele, if Ehlers gets some ice time and does something, if KFC can start scoring goals in bunches, if the D can play consistently well in front of Helly and finally if Helle can close the door night after night. If this all happens the Jets will be playoff bound and might even win a round. It's starts tonight

Chevy says there was no opportunity to use the 1st round pick this year. So many teams disagree with that.

What Chevy doesn't have the heart to tell you is that he thinks the team could easily miss the playoffs and that even if they make the playoffs he sees a good chance of a 1st round exit and thus he doesn't wish to risk what could be a high 1st.

Chevy managed to toe the line of adding some middle six help without giving up/overpayjng with a 1st or any top prospects.

If they can recapture their play from the start of the year and helle gets hot, they can make a run in the west. If not, the future is intact

“We were as aggressive as we were able to be”. Chevy seems mad, something is odd here. What restricted him?
I just did a re-listen. When asked what he would say to fans that were disappointed he said “we were aggressive, we were in the market”.

I didn’t hear any frustration that he felt restricted. He actually seemed upbeat IMHO.

But “aggressive” ?

Last year when it was clear the Jets weren't making the playoffs they traded for a rental in Sanford, wasting assets.

I just can't grasp this wishy washy mentality of Chevy's.

Maybe Chevy has taken all the "cabin" jokes personally and now makes a trade every deadline no matter what to put such jokes to rest.

Prediction: Kevin Cheveldayoff blows up the team. Fans on Facebook bitch like little children about how Cheveldayoff should be fired and that in the past he didn't do enough. In their delusional state they will talk about how they should have traded for Patrick Kane and other players with no movement clauses and threaten to not go to Jets games even though they don't know which part of Winnipeg the Jets play their games and have never set foot inside Canada Life Centre. Winnipeg will go through a complete rebuild and will be competitive by 2030.

This is the 2020 deadline all over again. We went nowhere that year with our piss-poor performance after the deadline (and lack of action at the deadline when we were very much still in it). We heard the same things then as we’re hearing now. Even with the picks we saved, we’re in a worse position now than we were then. Why can other teams improve noticeably at the deadline, but a couple of bottom 6 players is “as aggressive as we were able to be”?

Chevy IMO did the right thing at this time. The team is not playing well and may never recover to the play they had earlier. Is it worth giving away future assets ( picks and or players ) to maybe move the goal posts a few feet better?

More so when the REAL work to be done is coming up. Over the next 2 seasons this team is going to look drastically different than it does now, And trying to stay competitive and keep the fans happy, while the core you are used to having is walking out the door, is going to take all of Chevy's magic.

Did he acquire some depth forwards? Yes.

Come playoffs if we are in it

Connor/PLD/Perfetti
Wheeler/Schief/Ehlers
Appleton/Lowry/Nieds
Namestikov/Stenlund/Barron

I think that is much better then the start of the year. Is it enough? Likely not but that really depends on that top 6 and our goalie
That's actually a pretty decent lineup. Need Cole back for sure, and for everyone else to stay healthy.
