Rodrigues was a $12m mistake. An Extremely unimpressive player. If he was getting $2m per year for 2 years and was on the 3rd line only, that would be acceptable.

What...? He's been great. Can play up and down the lineup, solid defensively, shows flashes of skill, played well with Barkov/Reino, on pace for 40-45 points. Not sure what you expect for $3M...

Maybe if it was 2 years, but 4? Hands of stone, doesn’t do much out there. I just don’t like him. We’re most of his points when he was on Barky/Reino line when he was gifted the points?

What you expect is a higher rate of success finishing when being fed on a platter by Barky. Right or wrong, that’s where we are.

Probably, but if he was still playing with them, he'd be on pace for more points...

He's a solid $3M player, not everyone's going to be some crazy bargain like Verhaeghe and Forsling. He's got crappy finishing, but that was already known and it's not why he was signed. Players do things other than score...

Those expecting more goals should have known to curb expectations before the season even started. He was a known bad finisher.

Keep in mind Luostarinen is also making 3 million and ERod is out playing him 5 on 5. Yes better linemates but even together, rod has been better
They finally look to be getting some chemistry that trio

He isn’t anywhere near a bust but I was and am expecting a bit more. Especially at critical times. He’s a Craig Campbell. I want to see a David Booth approximation. (Not referring to the concussions.)

Not good expectations. Booth had scored 30

Erod topped off at 19 playing with Crosby and didn't come close playing Eichel.

He is a KNOWN terrible finisher. But 3M is fair for him. Over 30 points that is good on the boards.

He was extremely unlikely to hit 20 here even with Barkov and Reinhart. That's not him or his skillset

1M for every 10 points is a decent benchmark to assess value.

Rod meets that

Was listening the Maurice interview. Would not be surprised if Lundell gets moved. Didn't feel right, I think it's a mistake but they want to go all in this year.

I know we call rodrigues stonehands, but I've noticed his stickhandling at times to create chances for himself or others. His lack of finish seems to come from below average shooting ability if anything imo.

I’m glad we all agree that ERod should score more than he does. :sarcasm:

ERod wasn't brought in for offense...not sure why some are expecting Verhaeghe-ish offense?

Because people barely grasps the concepts of team sports and competition… ?

We could play the dynasty Oilers, Isles or Habs, give them 200% effort and people would still complain about how bad we are, instead of accepting that the other team has talent and works too !?

People still complain about Cousins around here, when the guy gets paid 1M$ a year and is considered one of the best agitators in the game… And I’m not talking about the antics, I’m talking about hockey, people ARE complaining that a 1M$ forward isn’t talented enough to play/stay in our top-6… Mmmmmmmmmmm… Maybe that’s why the guy only gets 1M$ a year ?

Same here with Erod… I know what we had before with 3M$, that was Duke… And I’d much rather go into the playoffs with Erod, no matter how bad his goal-scoring skills are ! It’s a pretty easy decision IMO.

Can always count on you to dial it up to 11/10

Who’s expecting Verhaeghe like offense? I haven’t seen that.

I’ve made my position clear: ERod should have scored a couple/few more. Because of that, I don’t think he should be in Barky’s line. But because of that, it has had reverberations for the whole lineup. Maurice has made those changes, so apparently he’s also noticing something, and it isn’t ERod’e lack of defense or forecheck.

See my comment above.

Well too me he is exactly what you are asking… A David Booth-type player !

Just that Booth was a north-south average top-6 scorer with one amazing year for Panthers fans, not good defensively with speed and strength…

While Erod is a north-south average top-6 playmaker/facilitator in his first Panthers year, good defensively with speed and lacking strength…

Pretty comparable. And pretty good deal IMO.

Erod should still have a couple more, and I’m not debating that, you’re right… But I also think he was one of the sparkles to start Reinhart’s monstrous-year… Wether you find that good or bad, I don’t even know where I stand myself lool :D

But I do think his playmaking and instant chemistry at first on that top-line really helped our start.

People were talking about Reilly Smith at the deadline, but Nick Bjugstad is the former Panther I wanted and still want to see come back. He's done well for himself in Arizona.
I’d take Bjugstad over Reilly any day and twice on Sundays. And that has nothing to do with Reilly’s shit stupid comments about fans he knows nothing about.

I think Zito may stay with the team he has right now. Getting someone that fits your team's playing style isn't that easy.

For the Panthers, an offensive player has to learn to play solid defense and cover for the dmen who jump up into the play. If a defenseman, they need to learn that it's okay to jump up into the play as the forwards will cover for you.

There's only a 20 or so game learning curve for someone to learn Maurice's system. Team stood with the team they had last year, showing them they were confident in what they had.
